Marc Diraison now lives in LA, but he barely does anything anymore.

Pretty much all they use New York for nowadays is Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh, but even Pokémon is slowly getting pushed away, now that its voice director, Lisa Ortiz, has moved to California.

Of course, we still have NYAV Post, but nowadays they mostly only use LA-based actors, with a few NY-based actors in minor roles.

It’s kind of sad how far the dubbing scene in NY has fallen. I’m pretty sure the only major actors from the 4Kids pool that are still active in the city are Greg Abbey, Marc Thompson, Mike Pollock, Dan Green, Erica Schroeder, and Wayne Grayson. All the others are either retired or have moved out west.

When I think New York and anime dubbing, I think Central Park Media. I think of John O'Donnel. I remember what a cow he was (the guy actually thought M.D. Giest was the greatest anime ever). I think of some of the worst English dub jobs I've ever heard in my entire life. Worse than the worst shit ADV ever did (which can be pretty bad). People used to shit all over Streamline and Intrasound. CPM was way WAY worse.

I'm sure there's something good that came out of New York, but I struggle to think of it.

Wait until you hear direct from Sony Interactive Media dubs, and I specifically recommend the Sony Rurouni Kenshin dub.

For as wonky as you'd think CPM dubbing is, their dubs sound like they're having fun or trying to act, and I have been charmed by their performances as much as the dubbing brings nostalgia onto me. The Sony Rurouni Kenshin dub showed me directly the quote "Bad actors can be saved by a good script; no good actor can ever save a bad script". The Sony RK dub had an all star cast, including this being Richard Cansino's FIRST act in dubbing RuroKen, and everything still sounded like shit because the script was written with directly copy and paste translated and unstreamlined wording and lines without any attempt to make the characters sound believable, and it ruins the entire show.

I've probably not been around much in terms of anime dubbing, but I trust hired actors who are doing it for just a kick and want to act for once with great and/or entertaining writing than rushed out and poorly proofread garbage. Also, Cyber City Oedo 808, seriously, you're missing out.

Fucking this. How anyone can blame Ty for doing a poor job representing Vic when this stupid judge purposely refused to do his and treated TCPA like a trial is beyond me.

I think a lot of people (who aren't Lawtwitter) would agree that Chupp sucks. The salient question to ask here and now is whether Ty did an adequate job explaining in the appeal how Chupp sucks, and how his sucking lead to the legally incorrect outcome.

That's what we're all waiting to find out. Ty does play an important element in this. It's being examined by fresh eyes.

Dan Green isn't really "active". He mostly teaches and raises his kids and then occasionally reprises Yugi Muto whenever Konami decides to shit out a YGO movie. Maybe does a convention or two on the east coast that has to deal with the series. It's been like this since his wife passed in 2011. Then again, I believe he also did mewtwo in the pokemon movie remake so he might be stepping back into the game a bit more now that the kids are older.

a FUCKING men. The Media Blasters dub was localized quite well for its time but the earlier “Samurai X” Sony dub was bad and the new “Kyoto Arc” that was done by Sentai is absolute (sorry David) GARBAGE.
