I mean, Ririsya was one of the people who submitted an entry for her remix contest AND had her video featured in Calli's contest results stream, so it's not as much of a surprise for Calli to keep an eye on her.

Correct me if I’m wrong, since this is second-hand knowledge from hlgg, but Riri and Calli know each other behind the scenes from her irl rap days. Going off that, Snek is okay because she and Calli are connected, even if its not a connection made public. Artemis has zero relation and is only linked to Calli by virtue of speaking English and having a boosted following by the rat-king.
The backlash comes from the belief that Calli is ruining the chuuba culture, evidenced by Trash Taste -> Indie Chuubas -> Twitch streamers and ethots. It may be an overreaction(likely), it may be falling down the slippery slope that leads to Gura collabing with pewdiepie (lolno).

Like with Ina’s cancelled collabs, only time will tell.

On the surface, there's nothing inherently wrong with Calli "noticing" an up-and-coming vtuber, but, given exactly who it was that she noticed as well as her Dead Beats' possibly overzealous predilection towards not only supporting Calli, but everything she does as well (vis a vis "she tapped his person so they're worth our support too!"), it sets a concerning precedent.

Artemis is most definitely just another rat in the ratking and while I find it difficult due to the inherent nature of entertainment as a business to fault Calli entirely for pursuing whatever avenues she can to grow her presence, she does need to start exercising a bit more caution in who she associates with, lest she straight up establishes a reputation of being a rat/grifter herself.

I'm just salty cause Callie was the EN I was hype for, I really like her design and her lore was interesting, then she debuted with a cringy white girl rap song and theres times when she speaks where she sounds just like this super condescending bitch I know.

I know she's probably just really nice and friendly but Artemis is the worst indie tuber and doesn't need the signal boost.

I'm going to err on the side of caution and I always ignore Artemis videos because "she's" the definition of astro-turf. Now I am curious on how non-English speakers view Artemis.

There we go, that puts my thoughts into words almost perfectly. Thing is, Callie is sailing in unknown waters right now. No other Holo has ever taken it upon themselves to 'bridge the gap' to other fanbases in such a big way (anitubers podcast) and 'reach out' to possibly-volatile indies the way she's doing it. I'm sure this is all part of some master stratagem of hers to build bridges of influence and, as I said in my last post, 'spread the love' (read: cross-pollinate fanbases to expand everyone's at once).

It can go one of two ways: the 'cross-pollination' goes perfectly and everyone holds hands and makes one big happy family, and Callie looks like a huge hero.

Or, it blows up in her face and everything becomes an even bigger cesspool that it already has been since HoloEN debuted (no offense to the girls, I love 'em, but it's true), and she just shrugs and goes "wellp, sorry" whilst the other Holos have to dodge metaphorical bullets daily and Cover management has at least a small handful of new controversies to deal with.

But...there's always the third option: nothing happens and everyone just keeps on how they were, which is possible, of course. But, I'll make this prediciton now, if Callie ends up being the first Holo to officially acknowledge Domo's retarded ass, and then ends up on his show, I'm gonna start sounding the death knells.

Calli's thing with Artemis is straddling a line; I really don't feel either way about Artemis (I just don't follow her at all because I don't really like her) but I'm at a point to where I just really can't vehemently hate anyone. The thing about Artemis is that if she truly is as boring as people say, her fans will fall off very quickly. The Trash Taste thing is similar; I don't have a problem with any of them and I genuinely enjoy Gigguk's videos since he actually knows what the fuck he's talking about, unlike some of the other anitubers who jumped on the vtuber train to make a quick buck like Hero Hei or Nux. I actually think Calli's appearance on the show helped a lot in giving the vtuber thing much more credence in a larger community since some people who never followed vtubers before started exploring them after Calli was allowed to speak somewhat frankly on her experience as one.

One thing I can take away from that is Calli's opinions on idols as a whole has undergone a dramatic shift; in her own words, she was a jealous little ho when looking at the idol industry before becoming one. I have a feeling that she doesn't know much about Artemis and just sees her as someone else out there putting in work for her shot at fame...except Artemis' approach is to network like fucking crazy and leech fans based off a good model design. If Mel was just a mediocre performer behind a good rig, she would also have fallen off very quickly. Granted, I have my own problems with Mel basically living under a fucking rock for her entire existence. It's kind of charming but at the same time I am absolutely shocked at how little pop culture shit she is aware of.

That’s a 10 hour comment with very little positive reception. I got over a hundred upvotes in half the time for disagreeing with a heavily downvoted comment saying that Cover should just kill CN (before Coco and Haachama returned, during the initial days of their suspension) — that the CN girls were innocent in all this. Of course, this was before new info came out that made me revise my position.

I know its anecdotal, but there really is almost no support for this collab. Likely his fans trying to artificially hype up the idea and getting shot down. As it should be.

Edit: I just checked timestamps. The post was made 18 hours ago. The comment was 17 hours ago, meaning it should have had massive engagement if people liked the idea. It has 12 upvotes even now. Its not going anywhere. Thank fucking god.
