I'm not saying they care, but how would you prove this guy has a job at all? It's basically just begging for donations. And if he's already in trouble with the irs as Ade implied, the government will squeeze him for themselves before they worry about some kid.

Besides, if he doesn't care about paying his student loan, he sure as hell isn't paying for a kid on the other side of the country. And the law seems to care little if he breaks probation, so I just have a hard time believing a Virginia court would be really harsh. A California court is another thing entirely.

Is that a worthwhile trade-off? I'd rather see the absolute train wreck that is Ethan Ralph raising a child he doesn't want. On the other hand, this would be unjustly punishing the child for the sins of the gunt.

If the person gets taken to court for non-payment. I know a few women who deal with deadbeat dads, and they made the decision that even with erratic payments, at least they get money, whereas if the guy is in jail, they for sure get nothing.

Plus then you have to deal with telling your kid that as a mom, you put their dad in jail.
