That's just the game he's now trying to play. He's never going to give up, he'll just continue to try and reinvent himself until he can find something that brings him success. He never will because he sucks at content production, and isn't at all entertaining.

Pretty much. Matt is in love with the idea of YouTube stardom. After his subscriber bump from Gamergate he's decided that this is his career now and no one can tell him otherwise.

To be fair, he achieved nothing else in his life, so it is understandable why he would latch onto Susan's little site for as his "career".
The problem is that he has pissed that all away, meaning he now failed at that too. But he will never concede and face the music, for it would be too much for his soul, I think.

Definitely shows. He goes to all the trouble of finding the ins and outs of Youtube, the monetization tricks, the algorithm manipulation, etc. He can talk for seemingly hours about it. He's obsessed with gaming the Youtube system. Problem is he's an average guy with average views or disingenuously odd ones like the Rock is not a movie star, but he's too self aware to pull off the 'regular guy' schtick. It's like he wants to be Kevin Smith without the charm or success.

I think deliberately antagonizing his critics is what makes MundaneMatt awful. On the surface, he makes dumb, positive-appearing videos that theoretically get algorithm boosts, but getting into arguments with his detractors gets that skull mask to slip very quickly. Just before IBS slaughtered him, Matt was also antagonizing milquetoast channels like Geeks & Gamers, World Class Bullshitters, and ComicBookArtistProSecrets. So, even more normie types wanted to see him fail being a lying prick to these people too.
In true lolcow fashion, it's his ego that's his greatest impediment. All he really needs to be self-depreciating and funny (to laugh with, not at), but it's just not something he can do because to rebuild that community trust, it's slow at best.
Even at his peak, Matt was barely relevant on YouTube, he failed to even capitalize of the limited window he had.

Jarbo got a boost in views and subscribers when he joined in on "a-logging" Ralph earlier this year. I think he believed this was it. His channel was finally recovering. But...
He's been losing over 200 subs a week, on average. Hes run out of content. The only boost in viewers he gets now are when people come on to shit talk.
He says he doesnt care but you know this shit bothers him a lot. If it didn't, he'd have quit ages ago to be a full time parent to the kids he generally only mentions to get a one-up on people 10+ years younger than him. Instead he streams when his wife and kids and shitty contract work job allows to make...$10 and stream to 50 people.

Thats the thing about e-clout, most of the viable milquetoast fence-sitter spots are already taken. If you wanna get an audience, you need some sort of looks or charisma to carry your material, Jarbo is just about the opposite of a likeable guy, hoping the material carries him to youtube stardom

Anyway, I think Jarbo's actually a good host when he's just talking shit about other youtubers/ecelebs with other interested parties and the alogs. It's just his political talk I'm not a fan of post-redemption. There's enough political talk in every other sphere, and I'm just not interested in hearing him talk about it unless it's in relation to some other eceleb's grifting

I think if you are a normal person you kind of felt bad for what Matt got after 2018 beacuse of how much of nothingburger the thing he did in the real world was and seeing Ralph doing actually evil shit and getting away with it time and time again when it easily could have been called out in a similar style.
