To be fair, the conservative base and or republicans (grouping them together here) haven't even been a stop gap when you think about it. Dems do X and republicans and conservatives fall in line letting it happen. It honestly might be better to let the democrats have their way and then force people to realize actions do have consequences just like voting. Kicking the can down the road has done nothing but lead up to this horrifying moment, and I think it's time to let an escalation (By democrats) happen so that people have to face reality instead of maintain a temporary illusion of society or what the intended consequences of liberals and democrats will lead too.

Well if you're a wignat there'd be no difference whether it's Dems or Pubs wearing the boot, since your only hope of success is a black swan event that demolishes the current power structure. But if you'd like a lower chance of getting robbed, overtaxed, and only being able to complain about it over carrier pigeon it may matter to you.
It's because the actual members and activists of a political party are usually more extreme than the people who actually vote in general elections. It's how you end up with Jimmy Carters and Trumps and Barry Goldwaters. The people who go out and actually knock on doors and shit like this prefer candidates closer to their own outlooks, even though these people are often unelectable. Then usually the pragmatists in the party force some candidate to win the primary. It's actually harder for Republicans to do this because, ironically, their primaries are much more democratic. Not even shitposting.
Right now, Trump voters are trying to pressure the GA GOP into helping Trump win even if it's only to boost turnout for the GOP in the Georgia run-offs. It's not an amazing strategy, but I doubt even a majority of Trump voters at this point have any faith in the GOP without Trump (it's not even Trump specifically but nationalism/populism), so I can't blame them for not being excited in the face of one-party rule. How many people here who voted for Trump ever gave a shit about the GOP as a whole? Western "right-wing" parties are the most pathetic group of people on the planet.
