Are there really "so many"? I see loads of schoolchildren around in my (small) city and I've yet to see a single troon unless they pass very well. The way people talk on here, it's like you can't go to the shops without seeing some stubbly loon in a dress.

The media in general creates a very distorted view of how many troons there are because outlets like Vox and National Geographic keep slapping 8 year old trans kids on their covers every other month, while Twitter and Google hold regular trans-positivity events. They're a very small minority but a highly visible one.
