Certainly, but the OP suggested to me that he felt that quite a few users (or at least enough users to warrant a thread such as this) considered his reaction/stance wrong or unreasonable (hence the backlash).
As such, I felt it was sensible to point out that from an "outsider's" perspective, or at least mine, it would seem that this is not the case for the majority of all users on the KF. There will always be hardliners that walk through life seeing it all in black and white, but most adults develop a sense of nuance.

Sig was a notorious shitposter who was mocking other retards in the election thread who were actually glorifying irl terrorists like Timothy McVeigh, and encouraging other users to carry out the same bullshit he did. The only difference is that Sig either intentionally, or not picked a time, place, and target that was actually going to be there when he said he would start shooting. That's what got the FBI to actually do something.
Now, do I think Sig actually intended to hurt people?
No.
I think he was taking the piss out of all the other real faggots glowposting like crazy, and who all deserve to be punished, too. I do think that Sig does deserve to be banned if only because he actually got the feds involved. He might've just been kidding, and might not have had any intention of causing actual harm, but like it, or not, the feds did show up, and he should be punished for that.
A key thing to note, however, is that the election thread was in Deep Thoughts, and not A&H, or Happenings-at least not the particular election thread where all the glowposting was happening. People are wanting A&H, and to a lesser extent, Happenings, to be banned despite it not being the actual board at fault here because all the political spergs from A&H, and Happenings were gathering in that particular thread in that particular board.
Should those boards be banned? Honestly, at this point, yeah.
They have been the cause of way too much drama, and way too much actual legal shit going down. KF is not supposed to be your place to get "unbias news", (by the way, anyone who thinks A&H, and Happenings are unbiased is a fucking retard), it's not "the last bastion of free speech", it's not a place to be talking about how you're going to overthrow the government, and about political bullshit like that.
It's supposed to be a place to laugh at stupid people on the internet.
Nothing more, and nothing less.
Users who flock to those boards do not try to integrate, and have openly admitted to just wanting a place to sperg about. They don't care about the culture, they don't care about the site's owner, they don't care about the site's other users. They just want to shit up the place, and now look what's fucking happened.
Arguing that A&H, and Happenings act as containment boards is flimsy at best because the users just keep spilling out into the rest of the site. Now, this might not be case, but I think if you got rid of A&H, and Happenings more of the spergs would spill out into the rest of the site at first, but they would soon fuck off because what drew them here in the first place would no longer be around. They would just become refugees for some other site to deal with.
Now, if that doesn't happen, and they decide to stick around, we'll know for sure that those boards weren't the root of the problem, and be able to hopefully find a proper solution from there. But until then, I think A&H, and Happenings have had more than enough chances, and should finally be axed from the site.
