Do I think it's an overall good option for him? Not really, and for a number of reasons.
1: It will make people demand he do the same to others, for less.
2: The payoff is pretty small, I don't think the majority of his viewers/donators know or care enough.

The reality is, child custody cases are notoriously expensive, and when it comes to establishing fitness of a parent (or both), the cost can be prohibitive for even low- to middle class, newly single parents, let alone things like the Gunt. The Guardian Ad Litem, drug and alcohol testing, supervised visitation monitor, etc., none of those are free, they’re all paid for separately from the attorney. Where I live (Chicago) a retainer of $5,000 is standard to begin the case. I can’t see him mounting even the effort required to initiate things, let alone cash reserves to actively go after his kid.

If the Vickers chose not to seek child support, I would think they’d be hoping that leaving him and his paltry livelihood alone would result in him writing off the whole Faith chapter (and child).
