Women tend to be passive-aggressive and are less likely to be confrontational, especially with a significant other. If you couple the natural willingness of a woman to be that way with the fact that Faith is nineteen, pregnant (both of which can lead to hormonal episodes) and has significant self-esteem and self-image issues as well as the fact Ralph has cut her off from any other support framework she'd have (like a "good" abuser does normally) you have a recipe for a woman who is scared for her future and that of the unborn child. She doesn't want to be part of this (because no one in their right mind finds Pantsu attractive) probably because of her upbringing (monogamy) and she's not interested in women, so she did what she could to lessen the impact while not pissing Ralph off too much. She's seen how he is sober, she's seen how it's ramped up when he's drunk. She knows what's coming. Yes, she's with her parents now, but there is still the fact she's worried about what Ralph could do to her. Abusers tend to leave the victim with the impression that there is little they can do to escape them--even moving cross-country might not "save" them in their mind--and when you have a young woman in Faith's position it's understandable she might be a bit worried.

I can and do understand why people think she's a sociopathic, conniving, manipulative little cunt. But there are, to some extent, several underlying factors involved in this entire thing--none of which I or pretty much anyone here can properly diagnose (except @Ken Jennings who is an actual therapist).

Do we need a conviction to say Ralph did this? No, this isn't a court of law and I won't be locking Ralph away. The exact actions of Ralph aren't known, sure, but we know for sure that he abused Faith - his own words damn him.

If she is smart, she will not even put him on the birth certificate. She can always go after him for support later if she has to but it is near impossible to have a biological parent's name removed.
