General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

I mean, we're gonna have to agree to disagree on this one. I think Fubuki is gaining experience at Hololive and helping build the brand but at some point, her dreams and ambitions will be too big for the company or the management. That's my guess.

Honestly, I just want to ask you why you feel that way, what content gives off that impression. Because I have almost the exact opposite impression.

It’s fine if you don’t want to keep the argument going. I just thought it was an interesting take, feel free to not reply to this post.

Most people in the discord are just spamming emotes so I guess everyone's waiting as patiently as they can, but her fandom is probably the worst in terms of sheer autism.
I've noticed everyone seems to keep saying everyone but Calli's and Ina's fandoms are the worst.

Meanwhile, at least in the circles I've been in, Calli's has one too many emotionally unstable spergs who play up their respective mental illnesses for pity points, and Ina's just gets rabid at the slightest sign of things being disagreeable (see: Ina's first HL2 stream and the incidents with those semi-famous HL2 community dudes entering her chat).

what the fuck is wrong with these twitter addicted retards? Also does this Kyuotto person stream or anything? I looked at their twitter and twitch and didnt find any past broadcasts. (edit: okay apparently her debut is planned 2021?)
It's called being "terminally online" for a reason. Also, everyone and their fucking brother/mother/grandmother is becoming a "pre-debut vtuber" these days. It'll become the guaranteed mark of the shitter soon enough, kind of like verified "checkmarked" accounts.

There's something depressing I feel present in her drunken Senzawa videos that isn't there in her Gura work. That's just my speculation, though. Not a fact.
I don't really see depression in the Senzawa stuff but I do see the happier thing as Gura.

Senzawa struck me as someone who drank for a good time occasionally. Considering the gaps between uploads, it seems like Calli drinks more than Senzawa did. Basically, she'd shitpost whenever she got drunk every few weeks.

It's not that I don't want to keep the... let's call it a debate... going, I just don't want come off like a know-it-all jackass when really this is all just speculation on my part. I've no proof, just some circumstantial evidence that gives me the hunch. So, before I elaborate, lemme acknowledge what SALTE said:

Depends on the circumstances. Fubuki could simply want to move on with her career if she grows too big for hololive, but if that happens she would more than likely be starting up an affiliate agency with YAGOO'S blessing. I wasn't the first one to point it out but I did make it relevant hear about the canary in the coalmine thing. Trust in Fubuki.

... She's a full on workaholic for Cover... She also runs two radio shows (I'm guessing the JP equivalent to a podcast) , one of which is an advice corner, and does a lot of other BTS work. Her first real vacation/break was actually this year, where she took a week off streaming at her manager's behest but still posted daily content to her channel and kept active on Twitter. Even unofficially, she's probably tapped as a consultant for some of the more front facing aspects of hololive since she's been at it for so long and knows what she's doing.
Potatohead, everything SALTE said here is part of why I got this feeling. Also, I'll admit to have worked with and known some VERY entrepreneurial people and she really has a lot in common with them. She's driven, a workaholic, a networker, she comes up with ideas (Gamers, like I said, was HER idea) and makes them a reality, she is extremely productive, etc.
Oh, and since Jaeger asked: I can't find the clip but Luna and Matsuri are still on very good terms, it's just that their schedules aren't meshing well right now to work together on anything. I think Matsuri talked about Luna calling her on Discord out of the blue because she missed her and they ended up chatting for several hours. Bear in mind BEYOND THE STAGE is just around the corner so all the girls are getting worked to the bone.
Thanks. And it is true--the big event is eating away at a lot of their time.

I have no doubt Calli's is a mess. It's probably full of desperate simps who dream of "healing her broken heart" or some similar nonsense. Kind of like Matsuri's fanbase is likely to be lousy with those types. But Ina's? What's the deal with Ina's fandom? EDIT: Besides the HL2 community dudes?

I saw this all starting by mid-spring. Right around when 3tene and other motion-capture software started getting noticed on Steam.

I don't really see depression in the Senzawa stuff but I do see the happier thing as Gura.

I should probably clarify that I find Senzawa's stuff sort of depressing when compared to Gura, not that Senzawa was depressed.

If she's actually a teacher, Calli is trapped in the English-teacher expat overseas lifestyle, which is its own cesspool of lolcows, big fish in small ponds, and ridiculously stupid behavior. Drinking heavily is part-and-parcel with the lifestyle unless you do what it takes to really get yourself out of it.

Yeah, given the gaps between uploads and the fact that she usually edited her videos with friends it always seemed like Senzawa did her videos for fun. She does seem happier as Gura but who knows how much of the Senzawa drunken goblin persona was just a character and how much of the upbeat Gura persona is just kayfabe.

If (more likely when) she graduates to move on to those bigger and better things, I think she'll make it abundantly clear that she'll be parting with Cover Corp on good terms. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up starting her own company.
I think it's more likely that eventually Fubuki('s roommate) takes an executive position at Cover, like whatever you would call Director of Talent Relations in Japan.

Not sure how reliable this is, cuz I’ve only seen it secondhand, but the global and general have almost mirror-reverse takodachi. One uses Ina to shit on others, the others do their art reps whenever Ina streams and calls out falseflaggers.

On the topic of HL2, yeah that series was bad. I was a jolly fan before I was an EN fan and to see his autism spill like that was honestly disappointing. The OC it spawned was great and a stark contrast to the otherwise comfy threads, which makes me think it was tourists, anti’s and twitchkiddies that leaked out.

Hm, I see. Perhaps it is because I don’t share ambitions similar to those that I can’t envision it. I really just just want a quiet, low-intensity existence, but I could easily see why one would rather reach for the stars. I’ll take your word for it.

After all, why would someone lie about their thoughts in a place like this?

I remember someone saying that the indies who become vtubers who are basically still themselves don't know what it means to be a vtuber or something like that, isn't that pretty much what Shigure Ui is? She seems to be using her personal twitter form 2009 and has been using the same name since at least 2015.

I haven't seen the Half-Life 2 stream -- was it actually Jolly being retarded or his fans being autistic?

Literally just said what it was in that very quote you replied to, bud. They get rabid whenever something slightly disagreeable that might trouble or take away from the squid queen happens. Tentacult acts very chill on the surface but has some vocal "community police" if you pay attention and lurk stuff like the "official" fan Discord.

I will say in regards to Calli's, I've seen more than one person have an emotional breakdown just in the last week regarding their obsessions with Calli while having just enough self awareness to realize that it's a mental illness problem with themselves... Only to continue wanking on and on about how much they feel like pieces of shit. I also know a couple of them lurk the Farms based on them bringing it up before, so if you're reading this, you know who you are.

Little of column A, little of column B, truth be told.
Mostly owed to his fans not shutting the fuck up about him being in chat and trying to talk to him, and him, being more used to NA streamer/Twitch culture, trying to engage with them in another streamer's chat, which is a big NO-NO for vtuber stream culture, as it happens.
He also said some marginally insulting things as jokes as well, I believe? I was watching the stream live when it happened but it was hard to keep up with chat moving so quickly. Noticed a lot of people throwing shitfits about Jolly by the end as well.

Rimmy and DeSinc also showed up in chat and people jumped down their throats as well, even though neither one of them said too much.

I get your point but I disagree solely because she still plays along with the kayfabe when interacting with other vtubers. Especially with Subaru as she acts as a psuedo mother to her.

Hot damn, are Calli's fans that cancerous?

Makes me wonder what's the general "atmosphere" of all Holo's unofficial fan discords

From what I've seen? Shit. Hugboxes and tugboxes full of delusions or 'chan levels of incoherent spergtard hate. All fandoms end up like this, unfortunately.

Why would you do something like that to yourself, though?
Do you know where you are? Plenty of people in this very thread do much the same, I'd wager. I know for a fact I'm not the only one, but I'm not about to start naming names here.

Jaeger has the right of it, at least as far as Calli's fans go. There's a small handful of people not afraid to tell the mentally ill to get their shit together, but it's also frequently said with that same, hugboxy sentiment of "learn to love yourself" just as everyone else does as well. It's been getting a little annoying, truth be told.

There is nothing to disagree to, I'm not saying "She should be canceled!", I'm too new to care about deeper meanings, I just wondered why one instance is fine while another is not. Also not breaking kayfabe when interacting with vtubers is common courtesy anywhere outside the farms, right? I imagine anyone would be smarter than that.

On unrelated news Sakiyamama became an actual mama by drawing a new model for a faceless letsplayer turned vtuber, looks like the model will be debuting tomorrow.

Hell, lots of people would probably be happy if it turned out her and Oga were actually an item
I mean Oga religiously go to her streams every day to say hi even to the point that Fubuki chastise him that he only comes to make fun of her

Makes me wonder what's the general "atmosphere" of all Holo's unofficial fan discords
The one i am is surprisingly less cancerous the only problem i have seen is that Lyger is there but the rest of the admins has him on a tight leash, "just translate and don't embarrass us"

His sense of humor is self-depricating, so him saying shit like “I can’t believe there’s someone worse at HL2 than me, this is amazing.” was poking fun at himself. It’s just, you know, his autism got in the way of his funnies.

So the thing is, doing the whole "insult as a form of camraderie" thing only works with actual good friends of yours, and in specific designated spaces like the farms and the chans.

Saying "Man she's even worse than me." as one of the first things you say in chat for a streamer, especially when you have no overlap of fanbase, is a good way for your joke to land flat on its ass and just sound like an insult.

(Fubuki) also runs two radio shows (I'm guessing the JP equivalent to a podcast) , one of which is an advice corner, and does a lot of other BTS work.
I got curious, and found a channel that has been translating bits and pieces from her SDKW show with Marine for the past couple of months. They have quite the backlog though, only having just translated clips from their June episodes.
