EDIT: Something interesting here: these are 20 states overall (not counting fucking Guam and Virgin Islands lol), and 20 states voted for Clinton in 2016, and these same states voted for Biden in 2020. However, one of these states, New Hampshire isn't listed- instead North Carolina is. It doesn't surprise me that NH would be one of the states to not enter something like this if there had to be one, though North Carolina being included was a little surprising.

Welp, the blue states have thrown their dice in on the side of the thieves.

If you didn't think they were panicked, they absolutely are now.

So blue states are counter-suing/joining PAGAMIWI?

Yes.

FTFY Kamala 😘

Seems to be more support than actually joining, but I'm probably wrong. Was any of their support announced on Twitter? If not, that's kind of weird that they kept quiet about it. Maybe their just including them so they can get them to agree later?

I don't think anyone brought up states doing nothing as a sign of panic when it was expected for the states to file a resposne.
There was some due suggestion that the states might be so stunned by the magnanimous magnitude of Texas' suit that they literally wouldn't respond.

It's the same thing the red states did at first, with some of them later making motions to join as co-plaintiffs. Friend of court briefs.

I fully expect some of the blue states to make motions to join as co-defendants... Although I'm not sure that makes sense. It's good persuasion and marketing, though, so... Probably [however many red states there are] + [enough extras to make CNN's headline sound good].

It's a friend of the court opinion. What the 14 States that didn't join as plantiffs did to support Texas's suit.

This. Also, amicus curiae briefs in a case with such glaringly obvious public policy dimensions are really only worthwhile to signal on what side of the issue these particular states stand, rather than inform the Court of anything that isn't apparent from the filings. This is not an unexpected development, as this ruling will impact the entire country and all of its territories.

Michigan response, from a first glance they're using a fancy font to win SCOTUS over, bold strategy

This is updating really quickly, here's the other stuff that's been submitted that I'll attach the files for to this post later. In short, PA legislature is either neutral or in support of Texas, and Christians want to add their own two cents too (in support of Texas unsurprisingly):

Yes?

Seems to be
Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, Utah, and Florida (with friends of TN, IN, WV, MT, ND, SD, NE, KS, OK, MO, AR, LA, SC, PA legislature, and GA legislature)

VS

PA, WI, GA, and MI (with friends of DC, DE, NJ, HI, NM, NY, NC, OR, RI, VT, VA, WA, CO, CT, IL, Guam, and US Virgin Islands)

With Ohio saying "I'm here too!"

So it's either 19 v 18, or 19 v 21 if you count Guam, DC, and Virgin Islands.

Edit: Ohio on TX side now, so 20 vs 18 or 20 vs 21

It's not surprising in the least. The lawsuits on behalf of the states are filed by the State Attorney General. Even though New Hampshire went for Biden, its AG is a Republican. Even though North Carolina went for Trump, its AG is a Democrat.

That's why Louisiana filed an amicus brief in support of Texas, even though it has a Democrat governor. Its AG is a Republican.

Kind of sad on the blue side to include the territories to pad the numbers. And none of them so far seem to be intervening like the other states did. Or the Biden campaign.

If GA, WI and MI legislatures would join like PA did against their own states, that would carry more weight than the actual states getting in on this.

edit: Ohio is the Mitt Romney of states.

Deep-red Kansas has a Dem governor (Laura Kelly) and a Republican AG (Derek Schmidt).
