The Roundheads had several effective generals, and Fairfax doesn't get nearly enough credit as he should. My point was that everyone here's way too complacent about a right wing victory in a Minecraft American CIvil War, just like many of us were way too confident that Trump would sweep.

The first thing I see is the Blue faction has a serious geographical problem. Texas will naturally be the center of power for the Red Faction and it's a thousand miles from the border. By contrast the major centers of power for Team Blue are just a few hundred miles from the border. Worse still, blue faction will have half their strength thousands of miles away and unable to coordinate effectively.

Next Team Red has clearly defined geographical barriers, in the form of the Appalachian and Sierra Nevada mountains. Any effort by Team Blue would require breaching these barriers, which would be a bloody nightmare.

Add to this fact a huge portion of the Federal Army is in territories controlled by Team Red. If things pop off, at best for Team Blue they lose half the Army and a good chunk of the Air Force right out the gate. At worst half the Army sides with Team Red. This means would allow Team Red to play for all the marbles and attempt to destroy Team Blue,

More import still though is a huge portion of Team Blue will not stay loyal. I can pretty confidentally say that if Tennessee's State Legislature decides it's time to legit own the libs, there will be little no internal opposition in Tennessee outside some shrill shrieking in Memphis and Nashville that would get crushed quick. By contrast if Virginia's governor called out the levies to resist Tennessee invading, he may see a good 1/3rd of his state grabbing their guns and joining up with the invaders.

All this adds up to a scenario where Team Red could in theory launch a successful invasion of Team Blues territory in rapid fashion and while outright victory would not be quick, enough gains could be made to land a death blow. Washington DC could be taken in short order and with the east coast unable to support the west coast, Team Red would just need to keep California bogged down in the Sierra Nevadas while they focused their efforts on Smashing New England and the Mid Atlantic flat.

I think the first thing you misunderstand is that the initial phases of the conflict will be way more localized, since the US has done an excellent job of destroying any semblance of state loyalty. That probably means that every large city will probably have a pro Left militia, and depending on their proximity to each other, some cities will essentially be besieged and have little hope in getting relieved by allied forces. So assuming of course there's no foreign intervention or nuclear attacks, you'll probably see the left taking rural areas in the Northeast and West Coast, while the right will besiege the blue islands. Texas will be weird because you'll probably see stiff resistance in the border regions, which may result in Mexican involvement.

The second thing you need to consider is that because it's most likely that the right will secede, lots of moderates and military members will fight on the side that preserves the Union, despite their initial misgivings. This will likely give the left somewhat of an advantage, as they'll probably get support from professional troops who simply believe in fighting to preserve the country. This can eventually end in full scale demoralization of the armed forces that will lead to mass desertions if the war becomes protracted, but I think that realistically the right will probably be overrun by European, Chinese, and Mexican proxy forces if it gets too bad for the leftist government. Russia would probably support the right for a bit until the Chinese exert enough economic pressure for them to withdraw support.

I mentioned this earlier but in the military it the ratio of left/right depends on what your MOS is. The combat arms tend to run 25/75 while it trends to 60/40 the more of a PoG you are.

Also GWOT vets tend to be more libertarian. There are a ton of late 20s early 30s vets with combat experience who got pushed out in 2013 who would probably end up on team red.
