It all started when Kiwi Farms thread-haver Ana Valens spotted the now infamous
MIX IT UP drink ad in one of the trailers released by CD Projekt Red and whined about it on Twitter. The complaint was that the ad dehumanized trans bodies by using them as tools to sell a product, ignoring that dehumanization of people by companies is a central theme in Cyberpunk. This caused a very small amount of controversy. Nothing big, but it was just a sign of things to come.
Some time after, the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account made the mistake of tweeting the "I identify as an attack helicopter" joke which caused a small amount of controversy again, because as we all know that joke was created specifically to make fun of trans people and not the hundred thousand genders from Tumblr.
Things got worse when it was found out that your sex in the game was linked to the voice you pick, regardless of how your character looks. This caused these people to complain even more, because linking sex to how your voice sounds is transphobic. Then Cyberpunk had a cosplay contest and one of the finalists was a
*gasp* CIS WOMAN cosplaying as the woman with a dick in the MIX IT UP ad, which is transmisogynistic because reasons. Then it was discovered CDPR made it's employees go through crunch, which TransEra couldn't give a shit about (their beloved The Last of Us 2 did it as well and they don't care) but it's a useful point for them to attack CDPR with.
All of these caused TransEra to want to cancel the game, but the ResetEra staff was not having it because preventing A VIDEO GAME FORUM from talking about the most hyped release of the year was a sure way to lose revenue. So TransEra did the closest possible thing they could: Kyuuji created a thread to tell everyone how transphobic and full of shitlords CDPR are and they kept constantly going to Black Chamber's Cyberpunk 2077 thread for the game to make it go off topic by complaining people wanted to actually talk about the game instead of transphobia. This continued to foment for a while.
