Yep. They were the bane of cons in the mid-late 00s because girls would go around smacking strangers without any consent. It was usually done to people cosplaying stuff that was popular with yaoitards at the time, like Kingdom Hearts or Death Note. Pretty sure they were banned at all cons by 2011 or so.

Even Yaoicon had to ban them. Yaoicon, which has always been an 18+ convention (so even grown ass adults didn't have the sense to not smack strangers with paddles).

Cons in the 00s were something.

I knew about that shit, but reading that page made me cringe hard (and think, once again, why the hell is anyone ever allowed to act like that). Also

AFAIK, the last one was in 2017. I suspect that ”honest” fujos wouldn’t bother going anyway. To someone like me, cons are “so 1990’s”.

Girls into pretty boys are for the most part straight but younger. In general women find sexiest men of their own age or slightly older (men regardless of age tend to find women in their early twenties sexiest) and most females into yaoi are between mid teens to early twenties. If you look hot guy actors/musician/models of that age range, they tend to be pretty boys not manly men. Reason for this is no secret to anyone, puberty takes time to fully man up a guy and many universally attractive features like clear smooth skin and silky hair are see as feminine because women spend more time chasing them. Add to that to lady taste for feelings in their steamy fun and you get feminine dudes behaving in girly manner because that's what these often immature young women find sexy and relatable. It's still very important that these are dudes, put the same story with lesbians and most will find it boring or even gross.

If I had been capable of going years ago I probably would've enjoyed just hanging out with people with fellow interests and talking about this stuff in real life, but these days the con would be overrun by genderspecials and other twitter politics so that would suck the fun out of it. Hell, that's exactly my experience when I checked out Fujocon to see what it'd be like. There were people sharing contrapoints links and a panelist calling edo era boy prostitutes 'non-binary.'

I've had people tell me the show is anti-semitic based on the armbands alone. Of course, they've never seen it. But they're sure.

As for the yaoi stuff, I think some of these woker fujos are struggling withthe fact they're, well, just fujos. They need to have some noble reason behind it, as opposed to just being teenagers who like a thing.

I feel like woker fujos inevitably evolve into fakebois and "anti-fujoshi", at least that's how it is currently. Being a girl that likes to flick the bean to cartoon buttsex is too inherently unwoke, as is just simply being a (cis)girl at all.

Unfortunately cons in general have had a pretty bad infestation of woke tumblr bullshit for a while. Instead of yaoi paddles, annoying teen girls are running around with pride flags (usually trans flags), tons of dealers sell pride shit, and artist alleys have progressively gotten way more ugly tumblr art. Plus way more woke panels that I just avoid like the plague.

I just try to avoid interacting with any of that stuff and still usually have a good time (I also get completely trashed), but I can't say I'll complain when the woke fad finally winds down.

To get back to the subject of the thread, I know I've heard about and seen some dumb shipping drama get dragged into cons. Couple years ago I saw a girl running around with an anti-Reylo sign at dragoncon, and someone I know got kicked out of a Gundam Wing cosplay meet for cosplaying Relena years ago.

Admittedly they do have a point in regards to Mihoyo not giving a shit about account security, letting hackers keep someone's account because the hacker spent more money is extremely scummy.

Everything else is retarded though, the part about the Kaeluc ship in particular is just people getting mad about about a FICTIONAL incestuous relationship. (I also heard rumors that their relationship in Chinese is supposed to be something like "sworn brothers" but it got lost in translation, if anyone can properly clarify this I'd appreciate it.)
