Apple's App Store art is fucking horrendous | Flat art / Alegria / Corporate Memphis - click for feet

My only gripe is that the guy isn't George W..

Otherwise this is even better than most actual flat humans. Look at the linework, the proportions, the composition... wild how shitposting assholes can dunk on actual corporations.
The subject of the picture is the "Dancing Israelis". Whether or not it's true is up for debate, though it wouldn't be the first terrorist attack commited by them.

Fucking hell, this shit it hilarious

I usually dont care for the political sperging that come from /pol/ but this stuff is pretty funny

One well known example of a company that completely fucked themselves over with this new style of branding was Tropicana.

They took the package on the left and turned it into the package on the right. The result of that was that everyone thought it was a generic store brand because of the boring packaging and ignored it, and sales plummeted. It's become a textbook example of rebranding failure.
This one is so stupid. The pursuit of "modern" design that says nothing is stupid. If you're going to sell your Orange Juice on being 100% Real Juice, then why would you change from having an iconic design that gets that point across to a design that says nothing and means even less? Seriously, the symbolism of the straw stuck in the orange is actually genius. Why change that to say nothing? And they fucked with the font too.

The paypal mobile site just changed itself to a Little Tykes nightmare full of these things. Tons and tons of banners that do nothing except show these ugly cartoon people.

Because that's what I want to do on paypal, scroll past lots of trading cards of ugly cartoons. They also seem to have some kind of silent shadow lock on whole balances that contain any recent payments from eBay. :shit-eating: The core functions are more obscured every time they update the site.

I've always found this style just so bland and overused. Sure, the vector-esque smooth shapes and limited colour palettes are charming, but all of the actual designs on the people are so fucking similar it's just boring now. It looks like it's all the same one single artist. Not to mention, it just looks ugly at times. I've noticed they tend to enjoy making the humans just overly chunky for some fucking reason, so the anatomy just looks really weird. tiny heads, big chunky arms and legs that look offputting.

This topic got me wondering about it, and I had a google for articles talking about this style and its relevance in the tech industry. One of the first pictures to come up...
