Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

I'm starting to believe that the vaccine is being pushed by Band-Aid because I keep seeing pictures of healthcare workers with a lil' plaster on their upper arm.

Here's a thing I found on Reddit that made me laugh -

Can we all agree that the Covid lockdowns were secretly arranged by Big Cardboard? How else were they going to get people to need so many boxes delivered to their homes?

The Elderly vs. Essential Workers: Who Should Get the Coronavirus Vaccine First?

The C.D.C. will soon decide which group to recommend next, and the debate over the trade-offs is growing heated. Ultimately, states will determine whom to include.

Surprising conclusion from the NYtimes: 4 jews agree that whitey should indeed be killed, that they deserve to be killed, that it is for the good of everyone that they be killed. It is galling that people like this can openly call for genocide and then walk the streets safely.

They can have my vaccine. Being over 65 guess they would say I'm "elderly". Fuck that, no, I ain't. I get all my vaccinations but not getting this one.

So what happens if, say, 1/3rd of the population is vaccinated, and it works, but it doesn’t prevent them from getting infected, just keeps them from getting very sick? Won’t they just be out super-spreading it to the rest of us then?
So the Oxford trial was testing everyone. Moderna and Pfizer were just testing people who got symptoms, so we don't really have data for that.

Oxford data had a lot of asymptomatic vaccinated cases. It does seem that it would be possible to continue to spread COVID-19 even if you're vaccinated. This isn't too much of a problem though considering we're rolling out vaccines to those most vulnerable first. By doing that, we can reduce the strain on the hospital system, which has been our goal all along.

This isn't to say that young people are never hospitalized due to COVID-19, but there's probably an order of magnitude difference between the chance of a 30-year old being hospitalized and an 80-year old. Across the entire population, it does have a pretty big effect on reducing hospital pressure.

That's a reason these days I feel worse for retail workers than people who work in hospitals. Don't get me wrong, it's hard work taking care of sick people. But that's what people in the medical community sign up for, and it comes with the territory. Plus, everyone praises them. Nobody praises retail workers or delivery people who bring the food to your house. The amount of shit that cashiers get from entitled angry customers during this complete mess is infuriating.
Earlier during this shitshow I saw a lot of "doctors have to wear masks for hours for surgeries so stop complaining."

1. They signed up for this, they knew they would have to do it
2. No they don't: even in surgeries they take hours, there's multiple people conducting it and they have short periods where they can take them off and sit down for a minute
3. When you wear a mask consistently, you become more used to it. The Average Joe is not used to having to breathe in carbon dioxide from the breath for multiple hours at a time.

any deaths with the coof are being counted as deaths of the coof
The only really informative high level data is excess deaths vs the yearly/five year/decadal average. That shows that in spring there was indeed an increase in excess deaths. But there isnt now. At least where I am. This will stop when it’s gone through. The vaccine if it works will help but mainly, it will do what every other plague in human history has done and burn through in multiple waves over 18-24 months with seasonal ‘echoes.’

As someone who spent the first part of their career in a proper hard half face respirator, I can say that wearing a mask of any sort all day is really shit And I’m amazed that normies are doing it.
I’m just done with 2020. Doesn’t look like 2021 is getting any better either.

A friend of mine told me that a relative of hers died of COVID. After I gave my condolences, my friend was like "Yeah, this virus is so scary. My great aunt lived a great life though. 96 years old and survived a cancer diagnosis last year. Such a shame."

Like, I'm not an asshole. I'm sorry her relative died. But ... CLOWN. WORLD. Yes, it was only COVID that did her in. Literally the only possible cause. Okay.

In other news, my husband and I decided we're spending the week after Christmas at a theme park that we found out was still open. Got our tickets, and we're excited. We plan to tell everyone we're going, too. Seethe, you Karen cocksuckers. Seethe!

Long story short: My husband and I have had a lot of home improvement-related stuff happen throughout this year. I've seen a lot of carpenters, landscapers, etc. throughout this year. The vast majority of them appear to be very appreciative and relieved when my husband and I have said, "Oh, we don't care about masks. It's all good." We've even shared beers with some of these guys after the work's been done. All around good interactions with real people who are being affected by all of this.

Yesterday morning, we had another carpenter come over to do an estimate on a new project we want done. He was shocked that we actually invited him into our house. And when we asked if he wanted us to wear masks, he said, "Oh I don't care if you guys do. If anyone is going to pass it to someone, it's going to be me to you guys since I see people all day." He then proceeded to talk about how awful this year is and how he's so "over it" with so many people and how they're so rude these days.

Can you imagine if you are someone like a carpenter or a plumber working on a Karen's house? I'm sure these guys have definitely met their fair share this year alone. Seriously, these guys have acted downright relieved when they find out my husband and I aren't self-important psychos. lol.

For several years, I've said that people act too shocked about nice gestures these days and how it's probably because nice gestures aren't the norm anymore. Well in 2020, they are even rarer. It's so damn sad.
I hope nice gestures make a comeback after this is over

When my fat fuck grandparents who live in a third-world country got the coof and were out and about three days later, I can't help but find it completely ridiculous and suspicious that young people's entire lives are on hold for nothing at all. What are you going to tell teenagers and college students, "sorry we locked you in a room for the period of your life where you're supposed to develop a sense of identity and find your place in society, we had to avoid three days of inconvenience for obese seniors"?

Maybe they didn't get the coof and just got bogus tests? I hear that's been an issue lately around my neck of the woods, bad tests that swing either way. My parents and brother seemed to have symptoms, high fever, coughing, rashes, diarrhea, but tested negative once the symptoms were gone and they got a rapid test. I suspected it was cause they took it after the symptoms went away a couple of days later but now I'm not sure.
