I was using "puberty" in the way Boxy does, i.e., "do you have hair down there." It's certainly true that an 18 year old's brain is still mush.

I'm not one of those people who thought he "had all the answers" at 18; that's something stupid people say. I knew I still had a lot to learn, but what I wasn't aware of, which is bizarre to look back on, is how very inefficient my thinking was. I was extremely easily manipulated, highly sensitive to group opinion and the desire to be seen as good and correct.

Things that were huge challenges to me then are the sort of things I'd dismiss with an eyeroll and a derisive snort twenty years later. It wasn't a lack of education, or a social construct. My brain just wasn't finished baking. All eighteen year olds are idiots.

The age of consent is fairly arbitrary; this much is true. What boxy doesn't get is that 18 is already really pushing it for what could rightly be considered an adult.
