Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

Judging from Frog's chat right now, the average CG'ers reaction to Meyer dropping the lawsuit is overwhelmingly negative. People were already starting to notice him distancing himself from the community. I'm thinking this might be the end of Meyer's time in ComicsGate.

Meyer was NEVER "part of Comicsgate." EVER. He was very, very, VERY clear about this. He just wants to make comics, he doesn't want to make any political statement about it. And if some SJW wants to buy his comics on their merits, he's been clear that he'll happily take their money in exchange for goods and services. I get what you're saying -- CG might not be supporting Meyer as much anymore -- but even Frog has pointed out that Meyer isn't part of CG, not exactly.

What does frustrate me somewhat, and I expected and understand it, are people somehow outraged that Meyer didn't keep fighting. It's been two years. Waid managed to bullshit his way around a single procedural thing for over a fucking year, all while having his legal team send harassment shit to Meyer's legal team, running up the bill constantly. We're at 2 years in and there still hasn't even been a single real court session over this.

I get that it sucks that Waid's "lets just run out the clock" thing worked, but what was Meyer to do? Spend every dime he makes, all the money he could be putting into his new business and making comic books, just to continue to fight a legal battle that a blubbery failing man-child is intentionally dragging out via bullshit games... All for an apology that Waid absolutely wouldn't mean and the comics media absolutely wouldn't cover? Everyone's a badass fighter rah rah rah from the twitter client, but when you're getting $3000+ a month legal bills every month for 2 years, well...

Don't get me wrong. I would have LOVED seeing that fat sack of shit Waid have to post -- or record a video of -- some "I lied about Meyer and knew it, and I apologize." But at the rate Waid was successfully fucking with the system, it would have been 2025 or later if it was ever seen, and lets be honest -- the odds of Waid surviving in the industry till 2025 are pretty fucking low.

Even if he doesn't get MeToo'd by some sociopathic purse puppy POC who thinks "xie" deserves the work that a disgusting straight white cis male is getting, look at Marvel and DC. They're basically on life support and crashing hard. Waid's own business partners and coworkers have already come forward and outed him as a phone destroying, wall punching nutjob. It's literally only a matter of time before he does something like that in front of some faux fragile sjw type and they have him thrown out of the industry for it. He's no longer useful to them, and being a male feminist won't save him forever.

Now, what I WOULD love to know is if Waid was paying his own legal fees, or if he had help. Because the "lets run out the clock strategy" is just as expensive to do as it is to put up with. The idea of Waid wasting $250,000+ on annoying Meyer to death is glorious to me. Especially since in 2020, 2021... he's not going to be making that money back anytime soon.

What did Waid lose? From where I sit he's now stronger than ever because of this. This outcome will only embolden those types of people, not discourage them. Waid just provided the roadmap for getting away with this shit.
So the roadmap is to get sued for tortious interference and hire lawyers and lose work, and have all of your peers think you're a dummy that fucked up their plans and made them look bad...

...only to eventually get let off the hook in two years, so that you can continue to dominate small press companies that don't comply with your gay ops? And then do it all over again?

It's ingenious.

No, I have few friends, but Zack is one of them.
We all know how you treat your friends Ethan. You've already forgot about them by the time they pull out of the pizza parlour parking lot.

Months ago I called Richard's hairbrained suit against Waid a lolsuit and harvest many salty autistic ratings. Now I'm basking in the butthurt of all the fans that threw money at that retard hoping to score some culture war victory.

"It held up both of their lives for two years" -EVS

Both of their lives. Lmao rekt. Richard voluntarily fucked himself over a indie press most people have never heard of.

Speaks for itself honestly.

"Waid lost work" lol yet those royalty checks get cashed every month.

Meanwhile Richard is dredging the dumpster looking through the small pool of artists not currently occupied to work for him and he gets Narwhal lmao.

Send Ethan some preparation H and a box of wet wipes. His ass is is on fire and Richard is currently running around with a padded crash helmet and a pair of pants on his head.

Preaching to the choir (pastor?) here, but Waid didn't win anything. He spent 2 years and a lot of money fighting very hard and very dirty to keep Meyer out of court. That was time and money he could have spent doing literally anything else. To say nothing about how I imagine quite a few people wouldn't work with him while the court case was pending, and now all of his dirty laundry was aired out in public.

The random destroying of phones. Putting holes in the wall. Sending creepy smug black roses to widowers. Stealing comic book stores from his business partners.

All to come out of this right before 2021, with no win to "clear his name," while the industry has been reduced to publishing "I am not Starfire."

It's gonna be a bad few years for Waid, I think.

Listen if you're trying to argue that Squirrel Girl has any form of art better than "Tumblr fujoshi masturbating while holding a pen" you've already lost the argument. They took Squirrel Girl and gave her downs syndrome and tried to shove Buffy the Vampire Slayer DVDs down her gullet until all the characters could barf up one liners on command.

I haven't followed this thread in about ~1000 pages. Is it safe to say @FROG has attracted his fair share of tsundere trolls to threads talking about him, desperate for a crumb of attention from the big man, just like literally every other personality on the internet?

Back a few years ago they were desperate to get ComicsGate to decide on a "leader" in order to turn said leader into a wedge issue and break the community in half on the pro-vs-anti side of said leader. It's the same trick they tried in early GamerGate. Nice to see some things never change.

How much did it cost him relative to his net worth? Didn't he have his own crowdfund for legal costs? I agree with your point but you have to know that since they control the narrative for 95% of the people in this space a year from now nobody will see it your way. The consensus will be that Zack ran away. It's been 12 hours and thats already the general consensus by his own supporters. Is anyone criticiziing Waid for the settlement? No, because he just won.

I get the money part. My first post about this subject when news broke a couple pages ago was surmising that the money ran out.

We will never know since they settled things unless one of the parties tells us.

Its no big deal. If YbZ gives the money left over to charity, no one should look down upon him.

Huh, so when he threw CG up there back at it's height, took people saying hail CG's money, and never expressly said 'I am not not CG' he wasn't CG?

Nah, he was CG until he got bored. Which hey, no problem for me. But this song and tape dance is ridiculous.

What does frustrate me somewhat, and I expected and understand it,
How generous.
are people somehow outraged that Meyer didn't keep fighting.

He raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for this suit. He used it as advertisement saying, if you like to support free comics and standing up to Mark Waid buy my book.

He chose to use this. He chose to sue. He chose to solicit help. Stop acting like he was alone in all this.

It's been two years. Waid managed to bullshit his way around a single procedural thing for over a fucking year, all while having his legal team send harassment shit to Meyer's legal team, running up the bill constantly. Lawsuits take time. Again, there are countless videos and even posts by fellow kiwis talking about what a slam dunk this thing was. Was it not? Boy, if not someone else could have used the hundreds of thousands of dollars poured into this.
I get that it sucks that Waid's "lets just run out the clock" thing worked,
Only because Richard quit.
but what was Meyer to do? Spend every dime he makes, all the money he could be putting into his new business and making comic books, just to continue to fight a legal battle
That's not what's happening at all, all of that is recoverable if Waid is guilty of the abuses your talking about, and he's doing well enough.
All for an apology
No, for a judgment. Even the Quaterpounder got an apology. Richard got nothing
tEveryone's a badass fighter rah rah rah from the twitter client, but when you're getting $3000+ a month legal bills every month for 2 years, well...
Oh fuck off
It's literally only a matter of time before he does something like that in front of some faux fragile sjw type and they have him thrown out of the industry for it. He's no longer useful to them, and being a male feminist won't save him forever.
He's currently the head of a Indie publisher, is writing ongoings for Marvel, and got his dream job writing Superman at DC. So...
Now, what I WOULD love to know is if Waid was paying his own legal fees, or if he had help. Because the "lets run out the clock strategy" is just as expensive to do as it is to put up with. Since he also had a gofundme that anyone who kept up with this case knows about, no he did not entirely self fund.

I watched some of the Reikata vid. He said a more articulate version of what HTTP just did. "Oh boo hoo. Richard asked you all for your money. He used this to pump up his business and YT channel. But it's sooooo hard." Literally every five minutes the chat would correct him. He'd comment on something and the chat would remind him of X. At which he'd respond, 'I dunno." Man, no wonder Vic got slammed.

Yeah, they thought he was such a dummy they all donated to his gofundme and hired him. what a loser. :smug:

We will never know since they settled things unless one of the parties tells us.

Its no big deal. If YbZ gives the money left over to charity, no one should look down upon him.

Look I totally undertand why he walked away. My beef is that when this suit was first filed many people warned him that any resolution would take years and hundreds of thousands of dollars and not to do it unless he was fully committed to seeing it through. Now two years later he's just flushed $150k of his fans money down the toilet.

Mark Waid isn't wealthy. Royalty checks for his 90's books dried to a trickle, and he's in the same boat as most of his peers.

You tell everybody how you made bank on the Justice League movie. Waid gets that for all those CW shows, DC cartoons, and movies. Except he created allot more. Flash, KC Superman, the Speed Force!

That's just DC.

He raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for this suit. He used it as advertisement saying, if you like to support free comics and standing up to Mark Waid buy my book.

Yeah, that money? Was spent already. A long time ago. He had a legal team on retainer for two years and counting for a federal inter-state court case. $146k isn't enough money for that. Not even close. Even adding the $700 or so he gets from Patreon each month would only add an additional $17k or so.

All this for a judgement (which wasn't guaranteed and was 5+ years out) and an apology (which no one would cover). I totally get why Meyer agreed to walk away when Waid asked him to.

If this had made it to court, if Waid hadn't gotten the help of Zaid and intentionally fucked with the system rather than facing his day in court? Yeah, it probably would have been over and done with. Slam dunk case. But that's not the scenario Meyer was dealing with.

Like I said, though. Everyone's a badass freedom fighter from the safety of their keyboard.

You tell everybody how you made bank on the Justice League movie.

How much did Waid raise for his legal defense crowdfund? Do you think he had any benefactors step up to help with the costs like Zack did? I suspect so but haven't followed enough to know for sure. I fail to see how Waid lost anything in all this. On the other hand I can't see what Zack lost either. Just the opposite in fact. Waid's illegal interference made Zack's career. It was the best thing to ever happen to him although I'm sure it didn't seem that way at the time and in no way should his success since factor into that lawsuit.

Walking away will damage Zack now though, much more than Waid ever hurt him.

No, I actually CREATED NEW STUFF for DC. Mark never really did. He created Impulse, that's good. A couple others. Most of his creations were derivative. Creating a new character called "Kid Flash" doesn't mean you get incentives.

Here's what Waid created for DC:

And by the way, I'm not wealthy off my royalties either. Aside from windfalls, like the JUSTICE LEAGUE movie check, I probably get $80-100K per year. I've got a lot of new characters in FLASH and GREEN LANTERN, which will probably keep that green for the rest of my life.

Chuck Dixon has Bane. That's a REALLY nice character to own a piece of.

Mark Waid has Magog and Savitar.

Worse than that, I think his lawyers are fanboys that did this mostly pro bono.

This is still going on I thought it was long dead I hope it will be I walked away from Comics completely I just enjoy older P.C. games. I think in New Vegas I have just an unbearable hatred for the Legion I think Warcampaign did that to me with EVS I genocide them every play through.
Welcome back to the CG thread Adam. It's good to see you've found New Vegas to focus your energy on, just remember "The House Always Wins."

At $3000/month for legal fee's that means so far the lolsuit would have cost Meyer $72,000 when he raised twice as much of that in the GFM and raised an additional 17K from the Patreon. Do you have a source for these numbers?

I don't doubt the lawsuit probably depleted Zack's funds it might explain why he has been pumping out terrible books since Pandemic in an effort to raise as much capital as possible to continue on.
Meanwhile Richard is dredging the dumpster looking through the small pool of artists not currently occupied to work for him and he gets Narwhal lmao.
Narwhal's art has previously been described as an acquired taste, I guess some people enjoy the taste of dogshit. I've also heard that it works well for animation which is retarded since Narwhal is producing static comic books, not animation and I've seen better animation on early 2000s Newgrounds flash games.
I haven't followed this thread in about ~1000 pages.
That's a shame because this year in the Comicsgate thread has probably been the best so far:

Sheila Allen exposed Preston Poulter as a former cuckhold porn actor which made the front page of the site, she then came here to gloat about it and @Analog Devolved exposed her as a literal prostitute. We also had a front row seat for the Warcampaign vs Comicsgate civil war which resulted in half of the elevated members of Warcampaign being doxed in this thread and led to Panboy having an epic meltdown and calling @FROG a faggot on the Oz Show.

Nasser recently joined and started dropping DMs from everybody in Comicsgate in an attempt to get Donal Delay to pay him for the overdue fee he was owed for the collaboration on Brutas the Badass. While we couldn't help Nasser get paid @Yuusha-sama doxed Donal and revealed he was formerly in a cuck polyamorous relationship back in 2012 and then Analog found his "cuck comics" he used to draw and post to Tumblr.

Liam Gray went absolutely nuclear and got his own thread before embarking on what @Mister Dongs has colloquially coined #ComicsgateYearZero, dragging Micah Curtis down into irrelevance with him.

There have been more doxings, DM drops and Comicsgate personalities appear in this thread this year than all the previous years put together. CG 2020 has been an amazing year so far and here's to another great one in 2021.

The biggest winner in this Zack/Waid clusterfuck is Liam. We should still be laughing at him right now and planning the plot for Nasser's Misery parody instead of discussing Zacks retreet.

He created another character and called them Kid Flash, apparently.

The Speed Force is a good thing to have. If it's mentioned in the movie or a video game, it'll be a nice payout. The television stuff isn't that great.

But yeah, there's this idea that Mark Waid must be a millionaire because of Kingdom Come, and I just want to bring reality to bear here. Publishing royalties aren't much.

I'm sure Waid could cough up a meager retirement, but he isn't wealthy.
