I've spent some time on Gab. There does seem to be a common thread where conservatives on Gab were censored on Twitter for their free speech of telling people they should kill themselves or should be killed through some indeterminate government action. I can understand why Twitter doesn't allow this, but generally I see being able to tell people to kill themselves as a pretty important aspect of freedom of speech. Threatening to kill people, however, is impolite.
Cash is almost always secondary to power for most of these platforms. The control of the flow of information, the power to shape minds, is far more valuable than any mere hawking of product.
