Large explosion, buildings damaged in downtown Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A large explosion was reported in downtown Nashville early Christmas morning.
The explosion happened in the area of Second Avenue and Broadway near Commerce Street occurred around 6:30 am Friday. Heavy black smoke can be seen rising above the affected area.

The Metro Nashville Office of Emergency Management told News 2 a parked RV exploded and caused damage to several buildings. They said crews are currently assessing the damage but no injuries have been reported. Officials with the OEM also reported foul play was not suspected at this time.

There was a large police presence in this area along with fire crews. News 2 has reached out to Metro Police and The Fire Department to learn more.

Reminds me of the Burger Up suicide in Nashville about ten years ago. Husband and wife open a local chain of upscale burger joints in the hipster parts of town.
Marriage goes sour, husband vandalizes the main restaurant by scrawling graffiti against his wife all over the interior and exterior of the building so all passersby can see it, and then goes inside and blows his brains out— all in front of the floor to ceiling dining room windows.

Imagine someone inching up cautiously to the drive-thru speaker. "Uh... are you guys still serving?"

I'll give you the single biggest thing the Feds can do is pull the records of every cell phone in an area to try and determine who was there.

But there's few things are as effective as huge communities like 4Chan or Reddit pouring over footage. With thousands of people your odds are astronomically increased that someone will know something.

As a reference look at how fast cops get doxxed when they're involved in a sketchy situation based on video and going through the PD's Facebook photos.

Hell even if all you have is the last name of an officer you google that plus his department and generally you can find where it was announced when he got hired and in turn use it to get his full name.

These are the sort of tools average people can do.

Gut instinct is screaming that this will turn out to be a disgruntled ex-AT&T employee who wanted to send a message while An Hero'ing himself, but didn't want to actually kill anybody but himself. They chose a day of Maximum Visability with Minimum Occupancy around the area to be bombed. Christmas Day gets you noticed. But there aren't a lot of people around.

I have some direct contacts who do major facilities work for AT&T, including this building. They already got the call "Is everybody ok and accounted for? Oh and just out of curiosity, none of your people own RV's do they?"

They likely don't need the NSA. Nor do they need a subpoena. AT&T will view this as a probable attack on themselves and their property. They are already scouring any and all Cell records of the area and locating and tracking any and all phones and communications near the incident. They are handing that shit over to the FBI unprompted. Normal Privacy rules don't really apply when it's their building that gets attacked. They aren't a Third Party to the investigation, they are a Victim.

I dunno but lack of political message + wanting to make the casualties as low as possible strikes me as the motivations of a thief. The authorities could be withholding information to avoid having a spate of them occurring if word gets out that the heist was successful, keeping any would-be jackasses from getting the same idea.
My guess is that if it were a robbery it wasn't of a bank but a high-end store like a jeweler or an electronics outlet. A bank isn't out of the question though, and it was my first guess since they targeted emergency communications.

It’ll be interesting to see what the damage is inside the AT and T building is.

It wasn’t in front of the AT&T building though. It was on the block over. The only reason the AT&T building got damaged is because it ruptured water mains that flooded it.

If it’s like key comms buildings in other locations it will be hardened to a degree against explosion. Perhaps flood damage was the point. I think the comms building was the target. One of the things Snowdon exposed was how many AT/T locations had NSA implants in them. Friend fairly near there is saying 911 was affected as well - is that true? If so it’s knocked out a piece of infrastructure and shown that node is vulnerable.

insurance fraud doesn’t seem right here, and neither does revenge of an employee. Ex employees with a hate boner tend to do stuff like go postal, not set anonymous bombs. Their revenge fantasy requires them striding in and taking revenge, that’s the point of it. this is not that MO at all.
As for insurance fraud, again that’s a financial crime, not a personal one and there are far easier ways to do it than potentially killing bystanders and using an RV and explosives. Such crimes happen quietly and cheaply. I mean I’ve never bought a ton of explosives but I’d imagine they’re fairly pricey. Insurance destruction is ‘can of petrol and a match.’

That Google Maps image is from 2nd quarter 2019. It was still parked there in 2020 sometime, according to Mapquest/Bing Maps.

Looks like he vacated that property a few weeks ago. Maybe he had no place to park his RV - his supposed current address has no room for it - so maybe he decided to park it at AT&T... then kaboom?

Video shows the police are doing a search of the POI's property. I wonder if Anthony Quinn Warner was the one inside the RV, the cops haven't had any trouble getting into his house it looks like.

Confirmation that there's a Google Maps photo of a similar RV parked in Warner's driveway.

It'll depend on what they find in the house, maybe there's a suicide note. The fact that cops haven't had any trouble getting inside makes me feel like maybe this was at least partially a suicide.
