Because it's the holidays, I'll permit myself a bit more mawkish, maudlin drivel than usual. As pointed out upthread, while Ontario's official lockdown began at midnight, politicians & public health types having been urging us to 'stay the course' in the face of growing pandemic restriction weariness. Since mid-November, these officials have acknowledged that amended Christmas plans were going to be hard on everybody but in view of rising case & death numbers, Christmas within your own household was the wisest course: "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few".
Naturally this simply wouldn't do for our Precious Poutine Princess who must have been horrified at the thought of not wearing her Tourtiere Tiara & drooling over the sweat & effort of others in her family who would have worked many hours to prepare what looked to be a lovely, holiday meal. Her idea of sacrifice entails going without a 4th piece of pie.
I'm sure many noticed that on her drive to Cornwall, barely a single other car could be spotted because most other people honored the requests & pleas of health care officials & politicians. No matter what country, state or province we live in, we're almost all experiencing a very different holiday season this year & I've no doubt many a quiet tear has been shed when people think about those they can't see in person, can't hug etc.
So she went, she sat, she ate... then ate some more. Judging by photos, it was meant to be a very casual evening but she over dressed & badly at that for the occasion. That was the only hand she had to play. While others no doubt conversed about work, friends, activities & the changes the year has brought to their lives, what did she have to contribute that showed any steps forward? She's added some confirmed & probable diagnoses & possibly tried to gaslight them about what she's going to do about it.
Clearly, they know her better for if they thought she was the least bit serious about making positive changes, her gifts would have consisted of other than gift cards to food places.
She's clearly still in denial about her diabetes. The numbers don't lie. If she's diabetic. the cost of a dietician working in acute or community care settings is covered. I find it a little sketch that she's talking about a private practice dietician recommended by her therapist. If she didn't have the diagnoses she's already been given, she might have time to 'ease' her way into better eating but she no longer has that luxury.
This may prove to be a very interesting year in the convoluted world she inhabits.
