Kars is already perfect, either that or Stroheim exists so Part 2 is invalid.I also like how they didn't include the main villain from Part 2. The perfect being can't be black apparently.

So what? Just because others do something too it doesn't make it any less culture of white americans. Most american black culture is something other races follow too in some form. For example I live in a small northern town in Finland and we have an yearly jazz festival. The standard american culture is white culture just because majority of Americans are white and this was even more true in past. Regardless what you think about white man finding and concurring the new world, it happened, they multiplied to point of being the largest ethnicity and made new culture to that place. Mostly build from cultures they brought with them from Europe but of course influenced by the different environment, changing times and whatever else cultures they came contact with, just like all the other cultures around the world. US has neat culture, naturally with some downsides but neat nevertheless, and if it gets ethically categorized white would be most correct one.I wouldn't necessarily call that "white" American culture: that's just standard American culture. Americans who aren't white grow in that exact same culture and follow most if not all of it anyway.
honestly i kinda like some of these designs. it's giving less sjw vibes and more goku hypebeast fanart vibes. The funniest part about this, at least to me, is that this photo was in the #enricopucci tag and yet he's NOT THERE.
THE ONE BLACK VILLAIN AND JOJO AND THEY COULDN'T BE ARSED TO DRAW HIM
WOW.
I would’ve thought the comic is okay because white Americans really need to learn about their own cultural past and glamorizing other races in America. But HARMFUL? fuck off. These people always make non white/straight ppl the biggest pussies in the universe.
Yes, white people should stop crying that they hate themselves--not because it damages their mental health and further exemplifies universal hatred towards a race, but because it makes the poor, oppressed pee-oh-see feel awkward.
But if white people had no emotions about their race (no guilt, pride, sadness, etc), the SJWs would complain about that.Yes, white people should stop crying that they hate themselves--not because it damages their mental health and further exemplifies universal hatred towards a race, but because it makes the poor, oppressed pee-oh-see feel awkward.
I think the other part of it is that dumb American teenagers on the internet tend to think of "culture" as this ancient/traditional aesthetic, so they look at the various traditional outfits and foods that go with these traditional festivals across the globe, and assume that since the circumstances around America‘s development didn’t allow for customs like that to develop then that means America’s default setting is cultureless.I wouldn't necessarily call that "white" American culture: that's just standard American culture. Americans who aren't white grow in that exact same culture and follow most if not all of it anyway. Unless by "white American", you mean the fact a lot of these aspects are basically an off-shoot of European culture, post-colonization and slavery and yadda yadda.
And I agree with your point on it being seen as a "default factory setting on humanity". They take it for obvious and don't see how all these aspects are, in themselves, a form of culture.
I will admit though, I don't know much about what "black American" culture would be, aside from AAVE or whatnot. But from my understanding it's mostly something that exists in certain (generally poorer) cities and neighborhoods, and people who aren't black also partake in it if they grow in those regions, correct? Even still, I doubt they're following a completely different diet, speaking another language, and letting people wear very outlandish clothing compared to their white counterparts.
Or make passive aggressive art that self inserts themselves into furries since they’re not real authentic people. But if white people had no emotions about their race (no guilt, pride, sadness, etc), the SJWs would complain about that.
It's the perfect example of a Catch-22, really; no matter what you do to avoid being racist, you're still racist inherently. Makes me think of this old quip that I read as a kid;But if white people had no emotions about their race (no guilt, pride, sadness, etc), the SJWs would complain about that.
"Don't feel bad for being white because it puts the onus on the POC, but don't feel good for being white because it's a racist dogwhistle. Don't avoid making nonwhite friends and acquaintances, you need to have diversity, but watch everything you say or do around them because your presence makes them expend emotional energy. Don't talk about racism because it isn't your place to speak, but don't be silent or you encourage the racists. To avoid being racist as a white person, don't exist!"
Solidly a Could Probably Get A Real Design Job/10. Good colors and energy from the figures. Nobody looks bad stiff, except maybe Dio. Needs to tighten up on the color shapes; stay within the outline, that sort of thing. The funniest part about this, at least to me, is that this photo was in the #enricopucci tag and yet he's NOT THERE.

I like how this thread turns into an art lesson every once in a while lol.Solidly a Could Probably Get A Real Design Job/10. Good colors and energy from the figures. Nobody looks bad stiff, except maybe Dio. Needs to tighten up on the color shapes; stay within the outline, that sort of thing.
For the negatives:
- Don't just airbrush in a second hair tone, you've gotta be delicate with that. Make it follow the contours and lay of the hair more.
- The hands need work. Bad hands can pull the viewer out of the piece so you need to take your time on them. I dunno much about JoJo, but the guy in purple and the chick (?) on the far left have some fucked up hands. Fix it.
- Background color is too bright and too saturated. It draws the eye away from the figures. I get that they wanted to make the figures pop, but brightness and saturation draw the eye so they inadvertently did the opposite, making the flat background pop instead. If you want the bright neon 80's-esque backgrounds, you need to sacrifice detail on the figures to flatten the whole image, or add detail to the background while simultaneously toning it back a little. I recommend some orange floating triangles. Nothing says 80's like random-ass floating triangles.
- Looks like they just used a multiply layer for the shading. Lazy and looks flat. Crying shame because the base colors look so good. Guy in the white on the first pic looks decent-ish, but I'd dial back the red a tad. Guy in the purple looks fucking awful. Lean a little bit more towards blue, that'll make him look better.
Overall if this showed up on my desk I'd probably hire the kid, but keep them to the unimportant background details until their skills improved.
Art class over.
Edit to avoid doublepost. Below is a very lazy edit I did to show what I mean when it comes to colors.

who is also a ball jointed doll, this is the most bizarre thing i've seen so far. Also is the first picture supposed to be half life? Why does this look like blackwashed Albert Einstein in a dress
in fact all the drawings are supposed to be half life fanarts, more specifically, "hlvrai" (which I have no idea what it is since I don't know the half life franchise very well).who is also a ball jointed doll, this is the most bizarre thing i've seen so far.
