There is a difference between a 17 and a 19 year old chatting each other up, and a 17 and 21+ chatting each other up. Depending on when that 19 year old started school, he could be only a few months out of high school.

I’d like to talk about this whole “nudes” law. I didn’t know about this until recently, I can’t imagine most teenagers know they can ruin their entire lives by taking/receiving nudes.
Definitely needs to be some modernization on these digital laws, and some common sense in court to not put young adults/kids on the registry for small age gaps involving sexting, not without being warned that it can ruin their lives first at least. Honestly, teach it in sex ed.

I’m pretty torn over this whole thing. While i think the twitter mob is pretty much infantilizing 17 year olds with their reactions, I also know from experience that sometimes small age gaps can still affect a relationship. For example, a 19 year old dating a 21-22 year old isn’t remotely “bad”, but are still in two completely different and major phases of life (generally). its the same for this shit show. Carson is 19, fully self-sufficient and set for life with youtube/twitch money and has a “career”, while the girl is close in age to him yet still trying to graduate high school, probably having to work a retail job or two, and still has to ask her parents to go out with friends with a curfew. a relationship dynamic like that just sounds odd and ill-fitting to me personally.

It’s still on her for putting herself into this situation and going so far as to call him a groomer/pedophile when he definitely is not, but i do see some merit in the argument that carson was in the wrong ultimately. It should be obvious by now to not try to fuck your fans, and just in general it saves a lot of trouble to date people who are close in age AND where you’re at in life.

Specifically with Noah (HugBox) and Charlie (Slimecicle), they seem to want to get as much e-fame as possible by white knighting this issue. Then you have his low tier orbiters like that 24frames guy, who essentially built his career off of being part of Carson's Minecraft series, sperging hard on his Twitter.

I feel like there's got to be something going on behind the scenes that we're not getting here. As much as they are trying to farm clout from this it seems odd that they would only come out now, almost a full year after they were informed. Maybe Carson is an egotistical asshole behind the scenes, though from having seen plenty of his content he doesn't seem like the type of person to be able to pull that off; Or maybe they're jealous of the fact he's been moving on to playing with a lot of bigger name YouTubers that didn't build their fame off of him like essentially this entire "friend" group did.
