Normally yeah. But if Trump tried to let protesters and rioters occupy the Capitol building few those two weeks or even just a few days, I think they'd be sufficiently pissed off at Trump to remove him so Pence could deal with the riffraff. And if nothing else I don't think Trump would let it go on too long because it makes him look weak and incompetent, incapable of leading or controlling his supporters. So either way it should have been expected that he'd be forced to move to deal with the protesters.

A sit in is a peaceful protest so if they crack down on them the hypocrisy will be plastered all over the media and they risk worse. The DNC created and leveraged the BLM protests, I could see Trump might do the same.

Of course this means politics is forever changed in the USA, at least for the RNC. The Uniparty is doomed.

The knives are out, and the dissenters have been identified. All that remains is to round them up.
