It's correct; it wasn't an attempt at launching a coup. While there certainly was a desire to intimidate politicians, to go as far as to call it a coup would be grossly inaccurate. The boomers just wanted to (at first) 'peacefully protest' and heckle.

Because they have incorrectly identified Trump as the problem.

So the powers that be think that if Trump is removed from office a few weeks early then the Right will fizzle out and stop being mad, because there's no banner, no icon to rally around, no vision or cute sayings to wave the flag to. There's no ACAB or F13 or fat bitch having a heart attack by a Challenger parking too close or a drug dealers girlfriend getting shot while being used as a human shield or a junkie ODing. So they figure if they remove Trump, then their opponents won't have anything to rally around.

They think removing Trump will show the disaffected Right that they can't win. As in "Haha, we removed your guy from office and are trying to throw him in jail! We humiliated him, you lose!" and don't realize one simple thing.

Because they all hate America, or view America as a paypig for their own appetite, they can't comprehend that removing him will make things worse.
