Last I checked, who the President gets to appoint is confirmed by the Senate, which never went out of session to let him do recess appointments. This point is bunk.

Pence doesn't have the power to call in the guard. Pence has no actual powers at all save for his role in the senate.

Trump would have had to approve it and could (and clearly did) delegate to Pence to make the actual phone calls.

The news stories saying it was entirely Pence on his own are full of shit. He's not in the chain of command and the military will absolutely not listen to him without Trump's authorization unless the 25th is invoked (which we'd have immediately heard about and would make Pence the acting President).

The Sec. of Defense could make the call without authorization from Trump (but can't delegate that power to Pence).

The only terror was felt by politicians who had long forgot, in their arrogance, that they answer to the people. If the people had wanted, they could have racked up a congressional body count. You can make of that what you will.

What is clear is that people are goddamn mad. The political elite have been removing any relief valve along with any mechanism for change while encouraging politically motivated violence, all with the expectation that their control will never slip and the pressure cooker they are building will never, ever fail. The greeks had a word for this, hubris.

Naturally nothing will be learned from this, sadly.

There were no hostages/chanting demands/dead serious tone that would definetely give the event the Terrorism label. It was close, but not enough.

Area 51 is a real place, but that doesn't mean there are aliens there. JFK got shot, but that doesn't mean there were two shooters and a magic bullet. The WTC towers fell on 9/11, but that doesn't mean they were blown up with explosives as part of an inside job.

Unless you have evidence to prove whatever events you believe happened between the factual events that are actually proven, then what you have is a conspiracy theory. That doesn't mean it's necessarily false — if more facts turn up and the conspiracy theory is proven to be true then it just becomes a regular old conspiracy.
