This is basically the root problem of it. No one is allowed to think, to consider there could be things that each side has gotten right, and ones where each side has fallen short. Everything's black and white... but oh! Can't use that word, got to say binary...

The reality is no side has all the right answers, and in fact, complex problems rarely even have a "right" answer. We can't discuss anymore, because ostracization is the penalty, so everything will just keep getting more extreme. It's a purity spiral, and eventually it'll probably collapse in on itself, but who knows how much damage that will cause.

I wish a group of people had actually just valued discussion, even on hard issues. That was my core value, and now all my friends see me as Hitler because I don't think I should bend over and spread if someone breaks into my house to deprive me of everything I am.

I saw an article about how Trump is not actually Julius Caesar and is instead the incompetent guy Catiline who set up Caesar. Catiline exposed the corruption in the government and all of the fucked up stuff that was going on and showed Caesar what mistakes to avoid when he launched his own coup 3 years later. Maybe if we’re lucky we get our own Caesar and a few hundred years of peace and prosperity in the American Empire. If not, we’re stuck with retards like Pelosi or McConnell doing the same type of stuff, except pretending we actually live in a democracy.

Basically. The government is so bloated and incompetent it couldn't even stop tbe Boston Marathon bombings in 2013 despite being forewarned about the perpetrators by the KGB. I don't see how the government is going to last longer than 20 years at this rate since all the boomers will be dead, causing a shitton of economic and societal crises and Gen X probably won't step up to the plate to fix shit.

Not if Democratic Senator Joe Manchin of West Virgina wants to get reelected. Dems control the legislature on a real razor's edge, while the executive is headed by their creepy old man, who was only elected because he was not the Orange Man, along with a conservative supreme court that got mace and tasers legalized in NYC.
