It basically makes religion more of a basic bitch social club when it's supposed to inform your every decision and be the one thing you identify with the most. Like, you do realize that the way you think of religion is not how most religious people think of it throughout history and now? Even the Bible is the product of collaborations and discussion among the Apostles and compiled by the Church Fathers (specifically St. Jerome with a few Councils like that of Alexandria making the order of the Bible set in stone). Humans are social animals. If you are going to think of religion like that, you probably are better off finding a hobby you like and joining it because clearly you are doing it for the wrong reasons.

It really just sounds like you want the moral code of a religion without the actual rituals and shit that make a religion a religion. In that case, just read some ancient philosophy. I'd advise starting with Plato and Aristotle, then going to the Stoics and Epicurus and ending with the Neoplatonists, particularly Plotinus. They give you all that and it's not an organized religion. Reading the Bible is pretty pointless because even the epistles of Paul talk about the organization of the Early Church and the like (which is specifically what that verse saying women shouldn't speak in church is about: women shouldn't give homilies like a priest would). So basically you'd have to accept some sort of organization if you were to take all of it seriously.

Congress, these fucks who consider themselves masters of the people, cowered on the floor when the people came calling. The pictures won't go away. The damage has been done. And as far as I can tell not ONE member of congress asked if any protesters could come in and speak their piece, and not ONE member of congress volunteered to go out and talk with their fellow Americans. Leaders meet a challenge head-on. These people are no more than a massive circle-jerk society. Congress' credibility with many, many people is zero. Now congress is something many people will ignore when they can and work around when they have to. No faith, no trust. No unity, no healing. Two nations within one country.

Have said this before, will say it again, should I pass away after 20 January, I'll leave an America much worse off then when I showed up, so many years ago. Sad!
