You don't need to know the history of something to be something. Any one can play tennis without memorizing all the great tennis players throughout history. Most of these labels have changed so drastically it's pointless digging up the history of your movement. Today many conservatives are fine with gay marriage and adopting children. A few decades back you would have had a bomb set under your car for it. Pretty big differences for the exact same label.
