All joking aside: go to any newspaper archive before and after a successful revolt and it is night and day.

For example right in the aftermath of the 1916 Easter Uprising in Ireland according to a local rural newspaper: "These men died for nothing, they threw their lives away in a pointless explosion of bloodshed and worst of look at these personal stories we have of fellow Irishmen *slaughtered* just trying to go about their day to day serving their country".
The exact same newspaper sometime in 1924: "We look back on the poor martyrs of Easter uprising, who gave their lives for our country to become free". There was no mention of the loyalist ethnic Irish in that segment going over the exact same event.

Point is, the second they won the newspapers blinked then did a 180 on their opinion of the exact same event. Granted, there are also plenty of events where people do get themselves killed thinking they will eventually vindicated, only for nothing to ever happen.

...I don't think I have any real argument here: history is written by the victor I guess? In this case I doubt the Qoomers are getting "vindicated" unless something seriously unexpected happens.
I just thought it was a neat anecdote to share since the subject came up.

See, the problem with a lot of conservative people is that they believe the world is fundamentally just and things will work out if they present their case.

Left-wingers, by contrast, know that everything boils down to how much social, economic, or physical pressure you can bring down on people. They have therefore monopolized every institution capable of delivering those pressures, which is why they win. They don't have a case, they just have fear.

I'm convinced they are going to go full Soviet in terms of overt totalitarian control. They are desperately trying to antagonize the everyday American into reaction so they can use it as further "evidence" to basically rape every facet of daily life. I thought they'd just keep using Covid-19 and muh lockdowns to exert control, but they're basically pulling a Democrat George W. Bush by planning to implement massive measures for terrorism's sake.
