🐱 New Cadbury commercial features a gay couple intimately “sharing” a cream egg

CatParty

An ad is getting a lot of attention for showing a real-life gay couple intimately sharing a chocolate between their mouths.

The U.K. ad for Cadbury Creme Eggs – entitled “It’s the Creme Egg Golden Goobilee!” – was released earlier this week. The ad shows different kinds of Cadbury Creme Egg eaters, and one category listed is “sharers.”

That’s when two men who are holding hands and spinning lean in to share a chocolate egg between their mouths while the excited announcer shouts, “Sharers! Yeah! We are down with that!”

All of the other categories just show one person alone, which means that the gay couple isn’t included as one of many couples but is the only couple at all in the ad.

“Calling all eggs-ibitionists!” the announcer bellows. “Let the eat-tainment begin!”

‘Member when people used wholesome values and happy families to sell products?

Cadbury’s doesn’t.
It's a marketing thing and pretty well known. The whole lesbians in a Subaru meme all started because Fuji Heavy Industries was one of the few companies willing to buy ads in gay magazines back in the 80's. When you advertise to niche groups that don't get a lot of attention you win them over hard. They become very loyal.

Now that media is so much more diverse than it was back then every corporation has a strategy to appeal to all the little groups to hook them. Even if it is some youtube-only video advertisement. Leveraging that metadata to put the carefully crafted ego-stroking message to consume product in your face.

Even if it was a straight couple.

They did a study a few years ago measuring straight mens stress response to homosexual activities. It found even dudes who said they were accepting of the gays, when looking at pictures of fags kissing had a stress response equivalent of looking at a bucket of maggots or rotting meat.
