The Democrats stole so many votes that they lost seats in the House, had to go to a runoff to tie the Senate, and Biden’s proportional popular vote was pretty much exactly on par with Hillary’s in 2016 (overall turnout being higher on both sides).

I'm not nearly as upset about this as people might imagine, don't worry about that. If you want to poke fun and run a victory lap, I genuinely do not mind. When I say I'm disappointed, I'm only saying that I'm disappointed that Joe Biden won the election instead of the candidate that I preferred, because I do not like the man, his policies, his history with politics, and I don't think he's the best choice to lead the country. It doesn't help that he acts like he's five minutes from death, and his Vice President is a power-hungry, crooked cop. Plenty of people disagree with me and would say similar things of Trump and Pence's obsession with religion, and that's fine.

Fundamentally, when you've posted in the various threads here and there, you tend to outline your perspective, your reasoning, why you take a given avenue, so-on, so-forth. And so even if we may disagree, I can follow your line of logic and try to place myself in those different shoes. You dislike Biden's long history with politics and Kamala's entire being; I was concerned about Dems being able to threaten to pack the court if Manchin has to step down for any reason. People might disagree with any of these takes, but you can at least trace them - you can disagree with the logic.

This is so fundamentally different from a lot of the other posters in those threads - I genuinely cannot understand how one gets to where they are. I can't place myself in their shoes, because they almost seem to be acting on instinct and have fully inserted their self-worth into the idea that they haven't been wrong and they haven't been misled, so of course everything they read that protects their ego must be true. I don't know what you can do with people like that except to autistically try to mine salt from them.

I think about the only way it could be overturned would be if it's literally a pardon he can't grant. I don't think he could pardon himself. While I don't think there's a precedent for it, I think that's because it's so obvious he can't. He also can't pardon state cases, so if he tried to do that, I think that could be disregarded. Otherwise, though, the power is nearly absolute.

The ability of the president to pardon himself is something the founding fathers probably never conceptualized or believed would happen, which is why the pardon on the whole is one of the few frustrating oversights in the constitution. There's no precedent for it, but there's a lot of legal theory about it - if he tries, that one's going to the SCOTUS. Where they will rule it is absurd and he can't do that, but still, it'll be a shitshow with like 30 Dershowitz articles about how it's totally possible.
