Furry Fandom and Drama General

"is it a joke"

Stay innocent Lenny.

Considering the people I've seen at Bush Gardens Im surprised, but its probably the fact that they were grown ass adults wearing that that made them get attention.

Oh my fucking god... just came across this whack-job through people on my feed.

I read this and it really pissed me off.

It pissed me off that whoever wrote it was capable of writing and not in an intensive care ward after being tazed and beaten.

What has happened to our police?

This is her FB: https://www.facebook.com/jessievixxen

She's apparently 30 and dating a 19 year old. Fucking gross.

Furries always think that normal people don't like them because of things related to sex.

No, normal people see shit like this and (rightfully) go "what a bunch of weirdos."

I'm obviously not well versed in furry drama but I do follow this one blog called furrytrainwrecks. A couple of months ago, I guess they were documenting this one furry who recently beat cancer. Cool, right? Well apparently, she gets her first paycheck since and guess what the first thing she spends it on? A tattoo. The mod of this particular blog commented on this, stating that they personally thought this was irresponsible. Cue several members of the furry fandom coming after them because 'OMG HOW DARE YOU TELL A CANCER SURVIVOR WHAT TO DO WITH THEIR MONEY!"
I remember that! I've been following FTW for a while and that was a tasty morsel of drama if I ever saw one.

I know this is rather tame compared to the other shit that has been brought up on here but I still thought it was relevant considering that earlier in the thread we were talking about furries and money problems.
It's interesting how a lot of furries have money problems, because it seems to me (and I could be wrong) that the whole "living off of commissions" thing happens waaaay more often to them than to other starving artist groups on the internet. There have been countless long, boring rants on FA journals criticizing "commission culture" and how some artists "only do commissions and that's it" as if there's something wrong with that. Lol at people who think that art needs to be a pure and money-less thing.

On the topic of FurryTrainWrecks, they really do post a lot of quality material.

This sort of thing is one of the reasons why furries are seen as deviant. Aside from that, this alone deserves a horrifying rating.
I honestly don't care if people have weird-ass fetishes, but they become 10000x more likable if they actually have social skills and know to keep their fetish stuff strictly confined to either their house, or online places specifically for them (F-list, Fetlife, NOT deviantart, NOT cartoon forums, and especially not facebook....)

The kinds of fetishy people whom are able to understand that what they like is not their lifestyle, it's just an interest, are the best people. The same goes with furries. I can't stand furry "lifestylers" because 90% of the time they adopt that tag because they have no social skills to have any other kind of interest. So they lock themselves up with people like them and thus acquire a distorted view of how the world actually works, and then the facebook spillage starts to happen.

Bleh, sorry for the shitty rant. More content.

As you said it's the "commission culture". There's nothing wrong with commissions alone since I mean, I've done 'em while I was job-searching after losing my last job. But the problem is that the furry fandom is filled with stupid people (no shit), delusional, fiscally irresponsible stupid people. I mean what other fandom has people literally go homeless from blowing all their money on porn?

Like what happens is Mr. 20-year-old Furfag McGee looks at all the "popufurs" and sees they all do commissions (often for a living since they can get away for charging $100+) and figure that they can make a living off it too and become one of the cool kids in the process. In reality they don't sell a single fucking thing and any money they do make is immediately blown on porn. Also they all forget virtually every person who makes a living off of furry art draws fetish porn.

I don't want to write an essay about how stupid commission culture is but as always the TL;DR is furries are stupid.

So you're saying that the "commission culture" is the fact that people can't understand that to be able to live off of commissions requires a very specific set of skills drawing very specific artwork, on top of fuckloads of luck, so they jump on it too thinking "hell this'll be easy" and completely end up in the financial gutter as a result?

I didn't know that people blow their money on porn in the fandom. How sad, shit. Lemme guess, is it porn of their fursona? because I can't imagine that wanting to buy generic porn in a place that is overflowing with it is a good idea.

That and more art of their shitty neon werebeast in general. It's common for furries to circlejerk each other for more art of their werebeast, or to blow through their :tugboat: by commissioning more competent artists to draw their werebeast doing perverted stuff. They are perhaps the easiest market to bust into, doubly so if you're willing to draw the ultra sick and perverted shit, since artists for that stuff are rare, and they'll take what they can get.
