Jaron Seth Bloshinsky / Jazz Jennings / I Am Jazz - Puberty Blockers: Not Even Once

Stray thought: Jazz in that book comes across as someone who views himself as unable to be criticized or who is unable to distinguish between legitimate criticism versus "haters."

For example, I'm sure he drew naked people at school and I'm sure he was told it wasn't appropriate. I am further sure that instead of reacting to this as a normal girl would ("Wow, I am mortified to have called attention to myself by doing something inappropriate and I will only draw naked people outside school time,") he doubled down and thought "They're just transphobic bigots."

I'd be really interested in what a psych battery would reveal about autism (screaming fits about the wrong clothes as a toddler, much?) versus narcissism versus benignish sociopathy.

He comes off as an absolute void of a person.

What are his interests? What are his passions? Does he have hobbies? Does he create anything? Were he to go to university, what major would he choose? What does he want to be when he grows up?

I know that in [current year], there's odd pressure to create your own personal "brand" in a way that very few people in the past ever did. However, I feel like his interest is himself, he's passionate about himself, his hobby is himself, and so forth.

Even when he dabbles in clothing design, it's a very low-effort "This is what I like to wear" half-assery. He could come up with his own clothing line that would sell very well, but for all his talk about clothes, he's not interested in fashion, he's interested in himself and clothes are just the frame for the picture that is Jazz.

And the trans activism is him advocating for himself and his own personal interests. It's not a hobby when it's all about you.
In all fairness, a lot of our trans-cows are narcissists. Along with MtFs being typecasted as snowflakes for pointing out that they don't actually pass.

Were he to go to university, what major would he choose?
Tranny studies, clearly. But I don't think he'd ever be able to hack it at Harvard, which is full of school-sports captains and mountain-climbers and over-achievers with the best academics and extra-curriculars that money can buy. Jaron got in because he's a famous 'trans kid' and Harvard want to look progressive... but how academic can you be, really, when your brain development was arrested at 12? How dedicated and hard-working can you be when you've managed everything in your life by having your mother scream about discrimination on national television instead of knuckling down and just getting on?

It makes me sad, really, because if his hideous mother had told him he's just a boy who likes dresses and that's fine, he might have matured into a normal, healthy gay man. Even his childhood friend that he wanted to marry sounds just like the straight-girl bff that gay men often have. He could have been frolicking around California discovering the gay scene right now, and instead he's a mutilated, sterile, destined-to-be-deathfat perpetual child.

Two year old children in diapers are not walking in heels, and barely are steady in shoes. Two year old kids have no understanding of gender and what it means or the differences between them: there are just mommies and daddies.
I'm going to defend the heels anecdote: toddlers will def shuffle around in toy heels (Minnie Mouse style) once they're walking independently, just under two. They're basically little stilts. Boys and girls both. It doesn't make them trans or gay. They're toddlers. It doesn't mean anything. It's really sad to see moms of "trans kids" use the random shit little kids play with as justification to decide their entire future at age 3. Worked out great for Jazz!

Eh. Harvard isn't as difficult as pop culture likes to make it out to be. Among the ivy league, it has a reputation as being one of the easiest undergrad schools (only Brown is easier, but that's because you can get As while smoking weed all day). Of course, you can study astrophysics or computer engineering at Harvard and it will be difficult. But the difficult aspect is really overplayed and I could see Jaron getting by as a C student in film studies or something. Though in all fairness, being a C student at Harvard is embarrassing as fuck.

The two aspects of an in-person education he'll have issues with are the social element and literally just physically getting by. The first is pretty self-explanatory: he's a child in a mutilated semi-adult body that will be thrown among high achievers, children of the world elite, and, well, just normal college students. Harvard is a hugbox to a degree, but when they're out drinking or going to parties they're just like most other college students. Jaron's not going to get tranny points at the door to any frat/finals club parties—and it's not just because they won't want to fuck him. And since he is just so socially inept, it's difficult to see him mixing in with everybody else. Even intellectually, I don't see him being able to hold a conversation over a bottle of wine about Plato, Max Ernst, or filmmaking techniques in the Triumph of the Will. Yes people really talk about those things, it's not just a stereotype or something.

Physically, as has been mentioned before in this thread, it doesn't seem like Jaron is able to have a normally active life. In some places, that would be fine. But Harvard is a college that requires a lot of physical activity just to get around. From the Divinity School to the Kennedy School (or where the undergrad dorms/houses are) is about a mile walk, and there are people who will make that walk both ways every day—maybe even more than once. Can you see Jaron doing that like it's a normal thing? There are hills, winds, cobbled streets, etc. and that's not even mentioning the snow. Jaron is from south Florida and let me tell you, south Florida is flat, consistent in temperature, and has mostly concrete walkways. The northeast isn't like that, and it really does take some adjustment to get used to it. For most college students, that's fine and easy to adapt to. But for someone with already impeded physical ability from a place that isn't like that whatsoever, it really will be problematic. You can count the number of obese undergrads you run into at ivies on one hand, which I think says everything. Entering college at a time when everything is virtual is a stroke of good fortune that I don't think his family realizes, since I don't see him lasting more than a month in-person. Hell, knowing his mother, he'd probably have to live with her in Cambridge to get by. And nobody wants to hang out with the guy who is still babied by his mother in college.

In all fairness, a lot of our trans-cows are narcissists. Along with MtFs being typecasted as snowflakes for pointing out that they don't actually pass.
The kid grew up on a pedestal his mom made for him and now the fame is waning down with him no longer being the brave "trans kid" that his mom can parade around the media.
Its sad but now he's just a young adult that is too afraid to go off to school, had botched surgery that leaves him in pain, and his only hobby is binge eating.

And the trans activism is him advocating for himself and his own personal interests. It's not a hobby when it's all about you.
He doesn't care about other people's feelings at all. The girl's soccer team also probably wouldn't want to hear him prattle on about mermaids. Jeanette really created a monster.

Jazz isn't interested in clothing, fashion, etc., because he's a straight boy. He's interested in naked women because he should have become a straight man. He was coached into feminine interests by Jeannie. Notice how all his supposed feminine interests are adult female interests. There are lots of offbeat female child interests he could have had: beadwork, horses, art, cooking, etc. If he was really feminine, he would of had at least one unusual interest that's girl oriented. Jazz probably doesn't understand his feelings, but I'm convinced he would have been straight.

When I read the Jazz-horror book I can't help but imagine how people in the future will look back and marvel at how the abuse was laid out so blatantly in full public view. They'll read about Jaron bashing his head into the wall at 10 and obsessing about breasts and vaginas as a toddler and be amazed it was ever published, let alone to an audience full of socially-acceptable progressives thinking they were good and kind moral warriors instead of nutjob cultists.

The Ari thing bothers me the most though, because it's a perfect little microcosm of how the rest of womankind got shafted by this tranny lunacy, too. The deeply conservative Bloshinsky's decided that goddamn it, their little son could be whatever his little heart desired, even if that happened to be his sister. The sister dared to protest and was told to shut the fuck up and move over, be kind and prioritize her brother, or the precious son would kill himself and it would all be her fault. What a boy wants, a boy gets, and the worthless girl needs to knuckle down and subordinate herself to what's really important- making him happy. Ditto the girls on the soccer team. Fuck it, ditto every other girl and woman on the planet. A male wants your womanhood, so it's your duty to give it to him. #runarirun

I'm not sure Jaron was abused in a traditional sense of being touched. I bet the mom did wildly inappropriate things like encouraging him to look at and touch her vagina because she thinks it's "girl bonding" or some shit.
One line in the book that was an immediate red flag for me regarding Ari was when Jazz describes Ari’s initial discomfort is just her disliking that she’s going to have to share the title of "daddy’s little princess." The way it was phrased just screams that wasn’t anything Jazz heard Ari ever personally express, but a line fed to Jazz by their narc mom to pit Jazz against Ari. But when Ari plays along, she gets to be the best sister ever.

That‘s like Golden Child vs Scapegoat Child 101 shit.

I wonder how much of that was the puberty blocking drugs from so young, and how much was the child star/media circus/narcissistic parents.
I'm no fan of pseudoscience but it at least would be a hobby or interest for him, and he might do some good with it if he doesn't use it to replace actual medicine and just entertains or comforts people with it. Like stage magicians like our own Wes Iseli or tarot readers who help reassure people about their future, even though it's all bunk it can be helpful. Or just an interest like keeping ghost stories and legends alive, as long as it's respectful to the dead and doesn't exploit the living or step on the toes of actual professionals like police or doctors, it could be a nice thing for him. He could write books about it or host a show, maybe even play into the whole trans thing by saying he's a lady ghost in a man's body or was a lady in a past life or something.
The problem with that is most of these complementary therapies (or practices, rituals, scams or whatever you want to call them) involve listening carefully to the client and talking about them, either to make them feel at ease and happy or (more cynically) to get them to tell you information you can use to convince them you're legit. Jazz doesn't strike me as someone who would listen to someone else talk about their problems for very long before making it all about him or his mum, or suggesting something that he thinks would work for him without any consideration of their needs. He'd have to learn how to shut up and listen to other people talk about their feelings and worries, and give the impression that people can confide in him.

I agree. He comes off to me as having been groomed from early toddler-hood into a role his mother wants him to play. He never got to be himself or have his own interests, it's all about his mother and her wants and interests.

He could easily be straight, but that's not what his mommy wants, it seems. He basically underwent the modern equivalent of a lobotomy and so his body, personal self-hood and personality are molded, formed and shaped into what his mother decides what she needs them to be.

I forgot to mention a few things from the book.

When Jazz wrote it, he wasn't into fashion anymore. His childhood feminine phase has faded. If he wasn't a reality TV star, he might have become a relatively normal boy.

Page 115 also says the atmosphere at the trans-health conference is hypersexual but totally appropriate for kids. Jazz tries to make the fact that trans kids are often obsessed with sex sound normal.

That would make a lot of sense considering Jazz was still pissing himself on the regular when the first boyfriend arrived on the scene. I don't think most kids want to be involved with kids who constantly smell of pee.

As someone who has been to what is most likely the same trans health conference Jazz was at (not at the same time), the atmosphere there is indeed hypersexual. There were even booths set up towards the back of the lobby just for buying sex toys that anyone, regardless of age, could stroll through and buy things from.

ETA: If I remember correctly, known rapist Eli Erlick was also a speaker there. I did not see her panel, but it still boggles the mind that they let a rapist be a speaker, especially since there were minors there. She would've been a speaker again in 2020 if not for COVID, iirc.

Jazz has said he wants to study things like past lives and other paranormal metaphysical hoohaw. He’s not a bright man and seems to display very little intellectual curiosity outside of his own navel.
You can study this stuff at University of Edinburgh, where they have a whole unit for parapsychology. But it's pretty academic and research oriented—e.g. statistical studies and literature reviews. You won't find that at Harvard. They do have a major in folklore which is pretty cool, though entirely useless in real life (unless you subscribe to the "those who can't do, teach" model).

Interestingly- and I'll keep it brief as it's not wholly on topic- theres a book, Attack of the Unsinkable Rubber Ducks, by Chris Brookmeyer, which has a lot about psychics and mediums and the tricks they use. Its fiction and all of it is tangential to the story, but it's super interesting.

I'm interested to know how Jazz could have studied that at, what was it, Harvard, where he was offered a place?

Usually, kids go to college and troon out. No way would Jazz ever snip the apron strings and his mum wouldn't let them, lest they go to college and realise how fuxked their life is because of what mummy dear did.

Wait what, he’s been pissing himself? Like as a teenager? Uh that’s weird. Weird weird weird, and to be clear I don’t think jazz is weird, just that little anecdote. This totally won’t come up in the future again. Hopefully someday we’ll get a tell all book about the hidden sex abuse in tranny communities. At least he won’t have lost the life he was supposed to have for nothing :(
