Well, that didn’t take long.
A woman in Sherbrooke who was stopped after curfew with her partner on a leash told officers she was walking her pet.

The couple were spotted by Sherbrooke police at 9 p.m. on Saturday, one hour after Quebec’s province-wide 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew had just come into effect.
The couple were walking on the sidewalk, headed toward downtown, with the man on a leash.
Advised that they were breaking regulations and could be subjected to fines of more than $1,500 each, the couple “did not collaborate at all,” police spokesperson Isabelle Gendron said.
“One of them had the other on a leash, and she said she was taking her dog, pointing to her partner, out on a walk, as allowed under the exceptions provided by Quebec’s premier under its curfew law.”
The woman is 24 years old, her partner 40.
Quebec’s curfew regulations allow dog owners to take their canine companions out after 8 p.m. as long as they stay within a kilometre of their homes. Police tried to explain the true nature of the legislation, but the couple responded that it would be a “pleasure” to receive the fines and “it would not stop them from breaking the rules in the future and they would see how many tickets they could get,” Gendron said.

The couple were given fines of $1,546 each, and additional tickets of $100 and $50 for breaking municipal regulations. Fines for failing to respect curfew regulations start at $1,000 (plus administrative fees) and can rise to $6,000 for repeat offenders.
Sherbrooke police handed out 35 tickets over the weekend for failure to follow curfew regulations, 10 of them to protesters holding an anti-curfew demonstration on Saturday evening.
With the benefit of hindsight — and without wishing to kink-shame — our guide to Quebec’s latest set of health measures should have clarified that the curfew exception allowing Quebecers to walk their pets within one kilometre of home only applied to non-human pets.
While we’re at it, consider this your reminder that latex gas masks are not considered acceptable face coverings when entering stores that are still open during the day.

I love the snarky tone the article has. Yeah the curfew is probably shit but if you're gonna break it like that, you deserve to be mocked.

I wonder if they actually thought they could get away with that, or if they have a thing for getting fined thousands of dollars.

God how fucked up is Canada?
It's canada where they softball everything including dealing with a sexual harasser hiding behind his troon status. The worst part is you know this probably just makes the 40 year old getting walked around on the leash even harder because they're getting attention. They should've fined them then never mentioned it.

I know they think they are clever and all that, but I'd rather kill myself than let people think I'm a zoophile/furry/whatever it is you call people like that. Just be brave enough to break the rules straight out. No need to pretend to be a degenerate POS in order to exploit some loophole. Just admit you're too big of a coward to actually take a stand against the authorities.
