I think Trump should just walk out the door, throwing some papers in the air while yelling "fuck this shit". It would be hilarious. The Dems would be rid of him (but they wouldn't get the satisfaction of being the ones who actually threw him out) and we'd all have a laugh at least. The impeachment crap is old and doesn't really accomplish anything anyway.

Plus, let poor Pence have his moment as President since he is never, ever going to get a shot at it now. That dude won't even be able to be elected town dog catcher.

I hope it was worth it, everybody.
Yes!
They just want Trump gone at this point. He's a liability. Can't say I blame them.
Well fuck them.
Yes, mega rich billionaire personality that's donated millions to the democratic party is a true outsider.

You people are fucking stupid. Trump convinced a third of the adult population and a bunch of autistic children that he cared about them.

He never did.

Trump is a flip flopping tard only concerned with enriching himself and his cronies. And you dumb fucks fell for it.
If I had a dollar everytime I heard some retard say the same shit about every politician. Trump wasn't a knight and shining armor, he was a cry for help.

Now their great new solution is to just impeach Trump after Biden's first 100 days, so it doesn't interfere with his Executive Orders, new bills, cabinet appointments, or just plain make him look like a spiteful winner trying to punish his predecessor.

It also solves a greater problem for the left and the media--how to cope when the Big Bad Orange Man isn't there to kick around anymore. They can keep railing at Trump for months, with a long show trial exposing all his "crimes" and nullifying each and every thing he did or stood for in the past 5 years. A perpetual state of TDS as Trump becomes the new Emmanuel Goldstein.

This Cadaver Synod will probably be supported by most Republicans to send a clear message to anyone ever thinking of running outside the system ever again--don't do it or you will be destroyed. The results would be he could never run for office again (so even if it was the will of the people to vote him in, Pelosi will protect us from ourselves), he would lose his Secret Service protection (countdown to a "deranged former Trump Supporter Lone Wolf" taking action in 3...2...1), and of course jail, giving us the spectacle of a former President in cuffs and an orange jumpsuit--fitting revenge for all those crying the night he beat Hillary.

I will also predict that within a year, MAGA will be designated a terrorist organization, MAGA hats will be "symbols of hate" and support of any of Trump's policies like controlled legal immigration will be "hate speech."

What's next? Impeach Trump after his death?
Nancy Pelosi after a bottle of wine with another bottle in her hand screaming MWAHAHAHAHA TRUMP YOU'RE DOUBLE IMPEACHED FOREVER AND SOON YOU WILL BE TRIPLE IMPEACHED! She chugs straight from the wine bottle and screams DOUBLE IMPEACHMENT IS DOUBLE FOREVER DONNIE! and passes out.

You know what would be funnier? trump calling in a cabinet meeting and going postal with an AK

A fitting end to this gay ass administration

It is almost a certainty that Trump will be impeached within the next 2 weeks. 3 weeks at best. By the Senate and House.

Whether Mitch introduces the bill or not it will be introduced within 2-3 weeks. And when it does there will be probably about 3 Democrats who will walk out, and about 20-30 Senators of the GOP who will walk out.

About 47 Democrats will vote to impeach. About 10 GOP Republicians will vote to impeach. About 10 GOP Senators will vote not to impeach. The total who vote to impeach will be give or take 60 - but there will only be 70-80 Senators present, meaning more than 2/3's of the PRESENT SENATE approve the impeachment.

He will be impeached by the Senate. Perhaps in the 11th hour he resigns and begs Pence for a Pardon...that is the only other way this goes.

The senate can hold the trial after he leaves office if they want, but if it votes to convict after he leaves office it's unconstitutional and not enforceable (congress just flat out doesn't have the power or authority to try private citizens, which Trump becomes in 8 days).

At least not till they pack the Supreme Court anyways.

There is precedent for holding the trial after he leaves.

It is probable and will likely to go to the Supreme Court. My feeling is that Mitch and Republicans would grease the back wheels of the SC to get it through so that Trump is held accountable. Also, I would imagine the Senate can pass a resolution banning Trump from Office (again there is precedent) and again, I think this would go to the SC with a probable positive outcome in confirming they can bar him from office; again with Mitch and others greasing the wheels.

Mitch wants Trump gone for good and as long he isn't the one holding the sword he is happy to hold the Scabbard (as long as you don't see him).

I said they could hold the trial if they wanted, so I'll leave out the first bit (no precedent for convicting was set, because that person wasn't convicted, so there was no standing for further adjudication).

The senate can pass a "resolution" for anything it feels like. Resolutions aren't legally binding. The government could technically pass a law that says "Fuck Trump, he can't run for office" but it would be extremely unconstitutional. Right off the bat it'd be a total 14th amendment violation, second off it would violate the qualifications clause for who can run for office.

No un-packed SC is going to go for that, especially the current lineup. They've already shown they aren't going to be puppets for Republicans.

Congress with the power to decide who is and isn't eligible to run for office on a whim isn't something the SC is going to be too keen to endorce, nor would Republicans support it because it would be immediately used against them to bar all right wing candidates from office once the Dems nix the fillibuster.

I don't disagree with anything you are saying but the SC has to look at the overall intent of the legislation. If anyone could resign and walk away from any consequence it rules the idea of consequence as moot and thus not in-line with the many other aspects of the constitution. If a senate can expel a person then if they commit the most outrageous act and leave prior to expulsion or consequence and be free of it, it again raises an interesting point for the SC to consider: If the body has the power to expel and remove from office, is a person who is engaged in the most obscene act preserved by taking a step at self-preservation, or is the scope of the intent behind the constitution more broad? Could the President shoot and kill 5 members in Congress, resign and be free of consequence?

In any event I see many hypotheticals never before imagined being considered with legislation and with the SC and 2021 and 2022 will be interesting purely from the legislation and litigation that is set to unfold. What we see now is the tip of an iceberg.

The president is still obligated after leaving office to many things including a Secret service so the argument can be made there is an obligation after office also. Its not black and white.

There will be good arguments for and against many things, but I do not see the SC preserving the power of the Presidency as we have become accustom.

Mitch is going to destroy Trump. This is the only thing I am certain of. He may destroy himself and his party in the process, but destroy him he will. He isn't losing the donors who give him money for Trump - if Trump is bad for business then he goes out with the garbage.
