Weird position when we're talking about a nation that put god on their money so that they could pretend the state was equivalent to god since they were battling an agnostic economic philosophy who wanted to get that dumb shit out of politics.
I'm not sure how the example of George W. for example casually claiming he has a conduit to Jesus represents a better system.

The image you quoted kinda just highlights a systematic vulnerability of hitching your wagon to dogma for no particular reason.

Probably. But I was talking more in the sense of how places like China, the USSR, North Korea, and other communists approach religion, or at least how I see it.

Hegel-descended political philosophies. This covers Marxism and fascism, as well as early 20th century progressivism (American progressivism came from a bunch of US statesmen who studied in Germany, including Woodrow Wilson).* A lot of it has to do with eschatology and the problem of a perfect God and an imperfect universe. There was a major branch of thinking that the universe is in some way God perfecting Himself over time. Somehow this line of thinking mutated over time where the State took God's place, as you seem to be aware. This is covered in detail in vol 1 of Leszek Kolakowski's Main Currents of Marxism.

*Wilson used to play a rhetorical trick where he'd talk up freedom in a way that made it sound like he was using the word in the vernacular sense which most people would understand it. Actually, as he explained in some of his writings, what he meant was freedom within the context of the State. The State would determine the optimal amount of freedom that a person, as a cog in the machine, could enjoy.

I am sure that you autists have already discussed this but does anyone else find it odd that in post 9/11, post Boston Bombing, post Las Vegas shooting, where we should have crowd control down to a science by this point, the DC police were somehow understaffed and allowed people in to a building that should have been one of the most hardened structures on the continent? That seemingly years of drilling and preparation was thrown out the window on one of the most contentious days in modern history?

That is odd right? I'm not crazy?

I agree there's reason marvel's comics haven't sold in while and now DC wants to do the same thing marvel did. I hate how writers don't get the hint that fans want Tony stark, Bruce Banner, Bruce Wayne and Logan characters that are in movies, TV shows and games. Not some random Asian dude who is calling himself the Hulk. I hate how the writers go and call fans nazis when there comics don't sell.

That's because the left doesn't know how to accept failure and can only double down. It's why leftists will always push for their pet projects to achieve their progressive utopia. And the one thing that splits them is to either stay the course for utopia or fold and course correct when the money and support stops coming in. The problem is that the true believers feel emboldened since 1/6 to push their ideal world without MAGA people and are perfectly willing to change and/or destroy America and the world just to ensure Trump and his supporters aren't in it.

Also Biden pisses me off how he claims he wants to unify the country when he has called people nazis and is going after the non threatening NRA. Hes luckey if there's not a massive riot on the 20th.

You know i been thinking just now. Isn’t it sad how politics have eaten our souls. I mean here we are arguing. But have you every stop and thought maybe I have a lot in common with that other user. Maybe politics is the only thing we disagree with. Maybe we like the same movies, shows or books.
