They won't be leaders though, ever. Just followers. If there was a serious effort to crack down on the people at fault, it would target those responsible for inciting the riot. Trump. Ali Alexander. Nick Fuentes. Lin Wood. Alex Jones. Coincidentally, several of those are known for enjoying a bit of receptive anal sex, so it would work out well for everyone.

I mean, I'm in a similar boat, but while there are some real examples of TDS 90% of the time it's just "this person said that Trump is bad". And in the TDS thread it's more like 100%.

The Arizona GOP is a great example of this. Recently they tried (and apparently fucked up the procedure so badly that they're redoing it in a week) to censure Cindy McCain, the widow of their most well-known and respected member, for endorsing Joe Biden. Even if we ignore the special case that Trump poses, it's insane for a political party to formally censure a non-politician for giving an endorsement they don't like.

EDIT: by the way, not exactly TES, but obviously related, anyone know if any GOP senators actually seriously considering not showing up to the impeachment trial in order to be a half (2/3s really) vote for impeachment? I ran the numbers and if (1 x Senators not showing up) + (1.5 x Senators voting to convict) is 100 or more then there are enough votes for impeachment and I wanted to keep track of that. I've heard 20 GOP senators are willing to vote to convict, but that sounds optimistic.

IIRC they hashed this out last time and it requires a quorum of 68 senators present with 2/3 of those present voting to convict. So technically you could have those 20 GOP senators show up and just abstain. Technically just 17.

I'm not sure where they could dig up 17 senators from though. We've got Murkowski, Collins, Romney and Sasse who would definitely be willing. Thune, Capito, Grassley, Tillis and Cotton could probably get away with it without worrying about a primary from insane Trumptards. Still only like halfway there though.

Thune and Rounds probably will jump in. You could also have McConnell doing some shenanigans to keep the people who he doesn’t want there out of the chamber. If they aren’t there they can’t vote. Also McConnell will without a doubt find a way to strongarm people like Rubio.

All Democrats + 8 Republicans voting for impeachment + 13 abstentions would be sufficient. Or All Democrats + 12 Republicans + 7 abstentions. Or all but one Democrats + 9 Republicans + 13 abstentions. There are so many ways that it could break down that I think the formula is most useful, but so far we have 10 Republican House members voting for impeachment and and that may embolden some Republican Senators.

Well duh groups of people in prison are literally criminals by definition. If they weren't criminals they wouldn't be there. They literally got there by committing crimes. It's undeniable, though, that groups of criminals in prison generally self-segregate by race. The prison authorities generally tolerate this because it reduces unpredictable prison violence as the race-based gangs generally cooperate to some extent to keep things relatively peaceful.

The impeachment is pretty pointless outside of barring Trump from any political office in the future. That penalty is pretty much the only one available now. I agree it’s pointless but the house has to do something with teeth considering what happened on the 6th
