LA Times report on Moderna reactions

This was very, very likely posted, so I'm more dropping this report about halting the Moderna vax in California to wonder if the vaccination process will turn into a bit of a disaster. It seems potent medication for something which only effects a small number seriously, and there's no apparent way of determining who is in that small category menaced by the Chi-coof. The deaths of elderly Norwegians who got the Pfizer vaccine might be another sign that these vaccines could well do far more harm than good. The same can obviously be said for the lockdown in general.

Reminds me of a date I went on months ago. Most girls I've been on dates with during the lockdown take the mask off once the date commences. One girl kept the thing on for 30+ minutes. The second she took it off I realized why she had waited so long; girl was uggo.
I've matched with a handful of girls during the pandemic on dating apps, but sadly never met any of them, as our conversations usually petered out after not going anywhere and realizing our schedules didn't align. I kind of had a long-distance girlfriend pre-pandemic...and although we're still in contact amidst the coof, I don't think I'll ever get to see her. This whole virus has really messed with my sex life, and I'm sure I can't be the only one. In my town all of the restaurants have outdoor dining only, and I get so sad seeing young couples struggling to have "romantic" dinner dates under a tarp canopy whilst wearing masks and dealing with loud motorcycles and annoying pedestrians smoking cigarettes right by them.

My mesh masks arrived today. I ordered the super obnoxiously shiny ones for myself and a regular solid black one for my SO.
I got the rhinestone masks in the hopes that the shininess would be a distraction from the fact that it's mesh. They're so shiny it's ridiculous; I put one on and laughed when I saw myself in the mirror. The material is surprisingly strong. Despite reviewer photos, I was expecting a crappy thin piece of fabric with dollar store rhinestones glued on, but it is actually mesh, and the rhinestones are punched in with little caps on the back. There's a little bit of stretch to the material as well. The only con is that they're a bit heavy and I could feel the weight on my nose. But know what? I could breathe. It didn't sit too heavily on my ears, and didn't disturb my glasses anymore than other masks do. They have little plastic adjustment caps and can be untied. It's a million times better than having multiple layers of thick cotton pressed right up against my skin as my rosacea flares up and my glasses get completely fogged over.

Ladies, do not wear bright colored lipsticks with these masks, otherwise the shiny will not mask your fake mask.

As for the regular black mesh mask, it is a bit big as some of the reviews pointed out. It's better for men, and can comfortably fit over a small beard without messing it up. As suggested we cut out the inner lining to make it more breathable. It gets the job done. It'll be nice to go grocery shopping without feeling like we're going to pass out from breathing in our own exhaust.

Now that I think about it, these will be excellent for summer if the muzzles are still being heavily enforced. Masks make summers with unforgivable humidity an absolute nightmare. Although I don't feel bad for the retards who go running and hiking alone while wearing one.

In other news one of my relatives got the coof vaccine. I guess she was prioritized because she has non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver, even though she ate herself to that point. She didn't experience any immediate side effects, and continues to run her mouth about how the flu has been eliminated because of masks. FFS I can't believe this woman used to be a registered nurse. Meanwhile the other healthcare workers in my family are praying that the vaccine isn't enforced. No one who has kept a scrap of sanity throughout this mess wants it.

Mildly crushed today to have finally had the last bits of rosy glass shattered for one of my closest friends. I forget if I detailed it in this thread specifically, but he was the one whom went and narc'd on his taxi driver en route to a flight and went out of his way to try to get the guy fired for 'spreading misinformation', all due to the guy being pissed off that he had been a pilot that's grounded due to the pandemic. Still makes me retch when I think about it, but I'd brushed it off then.

Sadly enough, it pretty much set the tone for my reaction to him sending me the second or third video in a row warning about people faking side effects of the vaccine. That is to say, I messaged him back and asked him not to send that kind of stuff to me, felt like I didn't have much to contribute to the conversation. He latches onto me admitting I was going to wait for more data regarding the vaccine, keeps pressing until I can practically smell the 'conspiracy theorist' accusation on the tip of his tongue.

He wasn't saying it, but it was definitely there.

I call him out on it because I'm pretty fucking angry that he's 'disappointed' ( his words, not mine ) in me, calls me a 'fence sitter', and tells me flat out that 'The vaccine is safe, having hesitation about taking it is anti-expert sentiment'. I can't even have A LITTLE SUSPICION about the vaccine; not a tiny bit, not a single iota of consideration or caution or that frustrates him. Seeing someone I care about fall to such insanity like that is by itself more disheartening than the isolation or the economic hardship to me. I understand I'm never getting my friend back and that our reactions from here on out are likely to carry that subtle hollowness. Doesn't make it any easier.
This sounds a lot like one of my best friends. He has spent the last decade or so working at a big state university teaching 'leadership' so he is very indoctrinated into the whole social justice / sociology bubble, but despite me being very much opposed to that kind of bullshit we have managed to stay good friends. I've known the guy since elementary school for crissakes. We almost never argued about politics until 2020 and it was always on friendly terms before. Now whenever I talk to him it's just a matter of time before he starts ranting about Trump, and I get texts from him about whatever political bullshit they're pushing on Twitter. Feels bad man.

Well my dad turned out to have gotten the placebo in the vaccine trial he participated in (I think it was the Pfizer one). So I guess he did get infected after all back in November, which is probably when I got it too.

But now they're contacting him about coming in to actually get the vaccine, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to dissuade him otherwise. He's very stubborn, so once he's made his mind up about something (in this case, getting the vaccine), it's virtually impossible to get him to reconsider. We were talking about it just the other day, and he told me "you could've had the vaccine by now too if you'd have just participated like I did!" I told him that, considering I'd already caught the coof and barely even noticed I was sick, I'm not concerned about being last in line for the jab, if I ever get it at all. And if he already got the coof and got over it too, what good would a vaccine do that his own natural antibody production wouldn't?

Like, I don't want to come off like an anti-vaxxer or anything, but the rushed development, unproven methodology (at least on such a large scale), and the increasing reports of issues with the vaccines give me cause for concern. And since I'm young and healthy, I see no problem with waiting; I'll either dodge a bullet or it'll be a nothingburger. I might be able to convince my mom to delay getting stuck, but my dad's probably a lost cause at this point. I'll just keep my fingers crossed that nothing serious happens to him.

Time to call him a faggot and watch him supernova.

Went to the grocery the other day with a friend of mine who has gone a bit nutty during this whole thing. He wears plastic gloves shopping, but then doesn't take them off or change them? Like, okay so if he's touched something icky he's just going to spread it around even if it doesn't touch his hand skin?
I prefer my method of using hand sanitizer every so often, especially if I'm touching a number of items. Probably not much better but I like to think it is, just so I can feel superior.

Everyone should probably stock up on vitamin D, sanitizer, kleenex, etc as soon as possible. I have a feeling about things.

so when you get home you wash your hands and disinfect all the items as well? change clothes? in a secure enough way it's not another vector? what about the bag? or your car? before and after?

don't get me wrong, everybody's responsible for his or her own protection, and measures should definitely be taken - but if the virus would want to eat our lungs it would've done so by now, simply because lot of people "think" they're "preventing the spread" but still half-ass or ignore measures out of convenience or stupidity.

again, not aimed at you, it's just something I already noticed a year ago. it's the same thing that made people screech about MUH TESTS (and then what?) or masks, completely missing how they work in the first place, thinking it makes 100% immune till everybody had hammered in they don't work that way, only leading to karens screeching at you from the other side of the road to wear one for their protection.

South Dakota, the one state in the union that's refused to do any lockdowns, continues to see a collapse in cases.

In Florida, no lockdowns, the second wave has peaked

No such luck in California, mask mandates, lockdowns and business closures be damned

It's clear the states that have done least to 'control' the pandemic are best off. They've likely reached suppression and will see a continuing and exponential collapse in case numbers.
Rolling out expensive vaccination campaigns in these areas is a complete waste of time.

There will be third, fourth and fifth waves of Covid infections. They'll never end as no permanent immunity from a Coronavirus is possible.
Eventually enough of us will build up T-cell resistance that we'll reach permanent suppression and the coof will become just another not very interesting cold bug which we'll catch occasionally.
Unfortunately everything we're doing up to now is putting off that day and prolonging the agony.

The graph from nearly a year ago was memory holed, though it looks like the capacity line should have been moved up.

If it were a truly dangerous virus (like MERS with its 1/10 death rate), or if I were in contact with vulnerable people, I would wear a respirator because I wouldn't want the risk of getting sick and I'd wear it until I got the vaccine. That's what should happen. If you wear a simple cloth mask, you are not protected, and it's too bad people think they are.

California (and IIRC a lot of the West Coast like Oregon and Washington) had until recently very low cases per capita rates, so it's finally hitting them. They will find their measures are useless and hopefully they don't stuff the ill in nursing homes.

British government still has absolutely no idea why people are dying, the level of incompetence is baffling to me
Its because just one third of us are not fat. Two thirds of brits are overweight at least with a third of those being obese and above. This is exacerbated by gyms closing and people having spent the last ten months pigging, binging, gorging and stuffing.

That's the unsaid truth. NHS staff know it,and any of us who arent fat cunts know it too. But the feelings of gluttons uber alles.

I mean even that odious shit Morgan? Fat cunt. Totally in denial about how his fat will endanger him if he gets coof. The single biggest risk factor to anyone under 60 is being fat. In March last year a graph showing the bmi distribution of icu coof patients was memory holed. Over 70% of icu patients were fatties.

It couldn't possibly be because the rules are so confusing that the general public don't even know what is and isn't allowed anymore and it couldn't possibly be because the police are doing fuck all to keep people indoors.

Doesn't help that politicians themselves keep flouting the rules (like Dominic Cummings) so most of the British public have about as much trust in them as Americans have in Kamala Harris.
