The sad irony is that Trump would arguably have been far better off had he lost to Hillary in 2016.

If Hillary had won, he could have easily capitalized on the publicity his 2016 campaign generated while Hillary got all the scrutiny, and after a successful round of merch and possibly even a lucrative book deal, it's likely that he could have then returned to reality television, with his business and TV career revitalized. Following that, he could probably have spent the rest of his years in relative luxury.

As things stand now, however, he's completely screwed. He is now cursed with the reputation of being a twice-impeached one-term president up to his ears in scandal, and the result is that he's now banned from just about all social media, it's doubtful that any major advertiser or TV network will touch him ever again, and businesses formerly supportive of him are now pulling the plug left and right; most notably: Deutsche Bank and the PGA of America (who recently withdrew his golf course from their upcoming tournaments following the Capitol riots).

On top of that, he's also facing a trial in the Senate in front of a Democrat-controlled Congress, and potentially a ton of state-level lawsuits related to his finances now that investigators feel emboldened to look deeper into them, and if all that doesn't finish him, then his creditors who are now going to be circling like vultures almost surely will.

Not gonna lie, I was never a fan of Trump, but I honestly just feel bad for him at this point. He completely played himself by entering politics, and it has backfired for him spectacularly.

I've seen this exact type of situation happen on /cow/. I modded it off and on for like half a decade, I saw it survive a dozen migrations and admin meltdowns, but the thing that finally killed it is we started letting "Internet Bloodsports" spergs in, and that's all anyone on the board would ever talk about, it took over the board and there was nothing left after.
