I am familiar with Stephanie Soo, so I popped on over to look at one of her stories. First off, I am no fan of the mukbang community in general (which Chantal is not a part of, no matter how much she deludes herself into thinking so) and Steph's personality is way too hyper, but for a start she is an engaging storyteller and she's not glancing at her phone every five seconds to read it off of wikipedia like Chantal does.

A delusional state of being "sick enough" that her absent parent will pick her up (as if) and coddle her.

Lots of people have deadbeat parents, and it sucks. It's definitely a traumatic thing to experience. But it can either galvanize you to be your own person and to take care of the people around you (the way you weren't) or it turns you bitter, and ugly, coked up on narcissism and ploys to get affection. This is her whole shtick. Fucking old, nasty men? At least it's some kind of attention, twisted up in the only thing she has to offer a man- sex. Bibi's stoicism? Peetz' boringness (to a lesser degree)? A male rock that she doesn't have to worry about pushing away. Which is why losing Bibi has sent her into such a fucking tailspin, it's her dad disappearing all over again.

I suspect that they have been in and out of contact (like most deadbeat dads) throughout her life. Her knowing that he watches her channel must really mess with her. Her daddy issues are so deep rooted that she doesn’t even bother to work them out with a therapist.

She’s focusing on the wrong things right now. I think that she’s deliberately avoiding mental help since she would rather try another health kick than work on the real issues that cause her to eat like she does. Her mental health has always been the hardest to fix out of all her issues.

I don't think her and her Dad have much contact with each other. I think he left when she was young, and not much more is known about him, except that Chantal supposedly gets her weight issues/eating habits from him. (Please correct me if I'm wrong. It's been awhile since I last read anything about it.)
