How many of you have bought a PS5 or Series X on day one? - And also how many of you actually have one in general.

I haven't really kept up with the whole console buzz as of recent. For a while I was really looking forward to the Xbox Series X because of Halo Infinite, then it was revealed that Infinite is actually coming to PC, and plus the whole controversy behind Infinite and the fact that it seems like it's in development hell and may be a shit game really killed any reason or hope I had for the Series X, and I never cared for the PS5, especially now that it seems to be lacking many features in my opinion.

So I was pretty curious how many people actually bought these new additions on day one/preordered and if you actually got one.

You can't find either in the store. Nobody is able to buy them enmass, and also you have a huge problem with theft where delivery drivers themselves have been stealing the packages.

I want a PS5 because unlike PC it's not marred by 100% digital distribution and there's quite a few games that don't require huge ass patches to run. If you play Yearly Always Online AAA Series, there is no big difference since those games are always fucked to hell at this point. But many other releases get their physical release and the game runs fine from the disc.

I got my PS5 day one; right now I'd say it's just "alright". Boots shit up super quick is the big appeal, as well as graphics on PS5 ports/games can look incredible, Valhalla and DMCV in particular looked beautiful at times compared to their PS4 versions.

I had an issue where it nuked my external drive after about two weeks, console wouldn't turn on/crashed unless I unplugged the external, kept making weird power surge noises from it. That's the only big issue I've had, outside of the PS5s internal memory just generally being shit at about 800GBs of usable space with no timeline in sight about the memory card attachment. Sucks because I'm too nervous to plug any external back in for my PS4 stuff and I have to juggle my installs on the console now,

Personally, I think the main appeal for a console is exclusives, and Demon Souls and Godfall don't cut it right now. If the new God of War or Horizon end up being true PS5 exclusives, or anything that fully utilizes the power of the PS5 without being neutered in any way by last gen development out, that's what really should be the deciding factor. I'd say the same thing about XBX if Microsoft would make true exclusives. If I didn't have an easy opportunity to get a unit day one, I would have waited until an exclusive I had to upgrade for came out.

The hardware of it is impressive and it is objectively a good console by all means, though.

I will never understand why people buy consoles on day one.
The shit is almost guaranteed to fail a few months down the line and the library is shit.

The only reason I can think of is bragging rights, and thats petty as fuck.

I managed to get mine on day one, but no one is exactly missing out that much on not having it. I figured I was going to get one at some point anyways due to liking the exclusives PlayStation usually gets and I have a big backlog of games that it is nice to get the extra bump of stable framerates and faster loading times.

The way I figured it is that if I waited until some kind of sale like a black Friday type thing would probably be some kind of store credit or some bonus that would probably be around $50 if that for the first year so that's about $4.17 a month and that's worth it to me to play the pile of games I already own as best as they can be played in addition to the exclusive here and there until things really start rolling out since I never bought the PS4 Pro and my base PS4 was obnoxiously loud. I got a free extra warranty along with my order so I figure I am good if it explodes on me in the first couple years

The UI feels worse than the PS4's and it isn't just from being used to the PS4's UI for so long, I have gotten a little more used to it but it just feels like it takes more clicks to do most things that I used to do easily. The store sucks as far as listing sales because it seems like they won't actually show up as their own section most of the time so you just have to look at a list of everything until you give up and look at the web store. I have seen cases where things like collections of games won't show up at all on the PS5 and you have to go on the web store to see the deal at all.

The controller is fine but I feel like the haptics aren't even used that much in some of the games with them and the resistance on the triggers has been more annoying than neat to me

I have all the console up from PS2 to PS4.

This generation console is least appealing to me...it just doesn't make sense...especially since I don't really play games anymore and PS4 does all the surfing anyway....

Been trying since they came out to get the ps5. No luck. I have about 10 stores I check every few hours, watch for news about drops. The retailers are doing a horrible job. I've had the thing in my cart at least a dozen times at places like Best Buy and you click the screen to pay for it and you can't complete the purchase. Also had the same thing happen on the Sony site. My friend is obsessed with getting this ps5 and I stupidly agreed to check for them when they were at work (they look the rest of the time). Never thought I'd be doing it for months.

Nope, and dont plan to buy a console ever again. I don't need a 60gb download and a 30gb day one patch on my console game, never mind all the other bullshit practices infesting modern gaming. These companies duped consumers into buying glorified PCs.

Nintendo is now the only company that still offers a traditional plug and play console experience (though to be fair my switch has been gathering dust for almost a year now). If nintendo release a new console and its a console rather than a gimped PC I might get one.

The last console I got was a PS3... and that was after the PS4 came out.

The only console exclusives I've had any interest in for these past two generations are Spider-Man and Ghost of Tsuhima. Everything else eventually made their way to the PC.

I actually kinda regret not trying to get a PS5 day one since it's turned out to be such a clusterfuck.

The way it's worked for me for the last two Sony consoles is I got them the following March, so I got the PS3 in March of 2007 and the PS4 in March of 2014, I kinda planned on getting a PS5 sometime around March of this year but now that's not looking real likely.

Maybe it's ok because my relationship with the PS4 turned out to be weird, I bought and played it in 2014... then proceeded to not the touch the thing until 2018, when I played a whole bunch of exclusives back to back, now it's been almost 2 years since I've touched it, PC gaming has really changed my gaming habits since that's my main platform now.

I don't regret getting the PS4 when I did because it allowed me to download PT while that was available, but maybe I don't need to be in a rush for the PS5, however it would be pretty cool to play the new God of War when that launches.

I'd like to get one at some point this year if it's not too much trouble, but I tell ya, scalpers are bleeding this fucking hobby dry, there should be laws against that shit.

Where i live the xbox series x is in abundance around but the ps5 is getting screwed hard by scaplers might and also have wondered if the ps5 controller is any good or not since apparently it's bit bigger than the ps4 controller

I got the PS5 day one on a whim and I've used it mostly to take advantage of the (limited) backwards compatibility. I played through Ghost of Tsushima. I have a couple actual PS5 games like DMCV:SE and Demon's Souls but what I really appreciate is the games that just upgrade for free like Mortal Kombat or the two Nioh games
