Somewhere upthread there was c&p of the usual 'instructions on dating trans' with the usual claptrap about it being OK not to date someone because you're not attracted, but not OK to date simply because you don't date trans anything.

Thing is, I can count on the fingers of my elbow the amount of times I've seen either trans women or even trans men, where I've looked and honestly not had a visceral gag / repulsed reaction. God, in no way am I picky about looks in relationships (not exactly Nefertiti myself), but this isn't about even basic levels of averagely OK-looking. It's a rare troon who doesn't look like exactly what they are - a buggered up aberration of whatever Nature dealt out to them in the first place.

Even attractive men & women who try to pervert their healthy physical bodies into ridiculous gender cliches raise my instinctive hackles. All the cues I'm getting make no sense to my subconscious. I look and there will be some bit of proportion or body language that screams everything else they're pretending to be is a lie. And one thing is certain: if trooning makes even good-looking people look deformed in a subliminal way, then it's NEVER going to make a bloated balding fugular man or a weedy squinty pock-skinned girl look magically beautiful and sexy, in any gender.

I'll never date trans until the day I meet one who doesn't make my skin crawl on sight, and it's never happened yet. I know, great loss to the troon dating pool, and all very superficial on my part. I'm sure they all have beautiful souls, and are generous & empathetic lovers, mmmyeah. Point is, I'm not rejecting them because they're trans. I'm rejecting them because, with every fibre of my body and mind, what I see is someone choosing to deform themselves into a fundamentally WRONG human being.

FWIW, people with utterly gross visible piercings make me feel pretty much the same way. That whacko with the giant deliberate mouth-hole in his cheek still makes me want to heave when I think about it.

You can "train" your senses to become accustomed to certain things so that you no longer have a "fight or flight" response every time you encounter them, but that feeling of disconnect will always be there and you can never not find that individual off-putting.

Those ‘boobs’ really are absolute shockers. Reminds me of Michelangelo trying to do female nudes, when the female anatomy was clearly of zero interest or experience for him. His naked women are basically buff young male torsos with a small lemon cut in half & plonked right next to each armpit. I get that POV, probably because I'm old enough to remember when the only people who transitioned were Cher's daughter and very small and effeminate gay men. To me it always seemed like they thought they could "do better" if they transition. The last 10 years have shown that there's obviously much more going on than that, but I still get a little twinge of "Oh no!" when someone who looks good as their natal sex transes. I guess it's just a scrap of unexamined shallowness still floating around in the noggin.

Looking at the body, they must be taking way more T than they should along with some steroids.

I have a relative with early onset Alzheimer's, and for years the whole story revolved around tau protein buildup in the brains. It came out a few years ago that quite a few elderly people had full blown Alzheimer's pathology but were still sharp and had superior memory until they died in their 90s. There's currently a Colombian woman who could hold the key to a cure. It's way more than that protein they were talking about for years.

We have no fucking idea what causes gender dysphoria. At the very least, it's a mental illness that shouldn't be treated with hormones and surgeries except in very rarefied cases. We still don't know what cross-sex hormones do to people over a long period of time. It's a huge risk that people mostly gloss over. And if you're an adult you can snag estrogen and T after one visit in some cases or just find a bodybuilding forum that will give you a place to get gear.

I've had heart-to-heart chats with trans people before and I empathize to a point. That point is when I ask them, "How did you know you're the wrong gender?" and it always reeked of the most gender-stereotypical replies ("I don't like pink", "I never liked sports", "always hung out with the opposite gender") and I would say, "Okay there's plenty of women and men who don't like those things and to leap from that to thinking you're the opposite gender is pretty extreme." Then it would get into "well I felt/identified as the opposite gender." I would say "What does being a man feel like? I don't even know what being a man feels like, it just is for me." They lose me entirely after that.

There's almost always trauma, autism, or BPD at play.

Most mental illnesses are poorly defined, but gender dysphoria is one of the worst. It’s not really one condition at all or even a spectrum of conditions. It’s autism...and it’s BPD...and it’s trauma...and it’s social contagion...and it’s fetishism...

And Jesus fuck, no woman would take a picture in that hoard of used cumrags and call it cute.

Yeah, plenty of women have filthy rooms, but they’ll at least move their mirrors.

"Troonbrains are like their desired sex brain" is their go-to "scientifically valid" argument. You'd think they'd retire it since it's proven that transbians score like regular men on sex-dimorphic areas of the brain and differently only on areas that are non-dimorphic. Basically if "brain sex" is how you justify the validity of troons, then you have to denounce and exile all opposite-sex attracted trannies as they are scientifically fake trannies. Some are aware of this and that's why they started to denounce the brain studies as "trans eugenics" fearing they could start using MRI to determine if you're trutrans.

As for the "real" trannies:

I'm not a scientist, but they didn't even perform like women, just differently from other men. Idk why they word this as "they're shifting towards female parameters" when they were significantly different from real women on all six brain structures too. Seems a tad ideologically motivated. Other studies have already established homosexuals can show similarities with heterosexuals of the opposite sex so it's likely sexual orientation influencing the results, not muh identity.

Yeh, this is pretty much the issue with all the claims for an ultimately biological cause.

The classic example you'll see is the systematic conflation of associations between pre/peri-natal hormone exposures and subsequent behavior with gender identity. The trick here is effectively to rely on the fact that having behavioral tendencies that are considered to be socially discordant with one's sex mediates the development of cross-sex identities. The existence of this connection is basically not the subject of dispute though; literally everyone who doesn't believe gender identity to be real in any more than a superficial sense thinks that gendered behavior (i.e. expression) is a significant driver of gender identity issues.

This paper is probably the classic in the genre:

I see it cited all the time on twitter by troons, but the strongest part of the paper seems to, if anything, confirm that there is no direct biologic connection with gender identity, just one mediated by behavior which is in turn related to early hormonal exposures.

The cloacal exstrophy paper is actually really good in demonstrating exactly this point, because the children are hormonally normal (i.e. male). So, it's basically David Reimer with N=14 sans the child abuse. But, the authors reasoning is as follows:

There's certainly an association, but the phrasing here is basically dishonest, especially given that this is 2014 paper, if it were published in 1967 then you could say that the authors are simply guilty of treating identity as being coterminous with expression.

What this paper clearly suggests is that hormones influence behavioral preferences and that a combination of said preferences and other factors in turn generate an understanding of who one is. The fact that self-understanding plays a significant role in the formation of 'gender identity' is strongly suggested by the fact that telling the subjects that they were genetically male triggered a change in their social identification.

There's basically no direct evidence that hormones are driving identification except through their influence on behavior and even worse than that, the relationship is non-deterministic. In other words, it isn't even correct to say that gender identity is "biologic in nature" for cases where the subjects are literally, hormonally normal, natal males. Hence, it is not accurate or reasonable to say that "the current data suggests a biologic etiology for gender identity" since it is - according to the data - not necessarily relevant.

In general, when making causal statements you need to actually interpret that data to identify the salient drivers: what is sufficient, necessary or at least of primary relevance. You can't just rely of probably causal correlations. To give an example, lower intelligence is strongly predictive of being obese. It is obviously not really accurate to say that "the current data suggests a cognitive etiology for obesity" since not all fat people are unintelligent and that causal association is mediated by societal factors in any case. Moreover, when we talk about obesity we are generally interested in why people are fat now and not say 100 years ago. Hence, intellectual ability may not even be relevant and to suggest it would, in many contexts, be interpreted as a dishonest rhetorical ploy.

The apparent function of their own conclusion can be interpreted in the same way; research on gender identity issues is done primarily to inform treatment and understand social trends. Stating that the cause is "biologic in nature" is then misleading if there are evidently other (modifiable) factors involved.

This in the subsequent section is also basically the same thing:

The connection seems to be with homosexuality and feminine behavioral patterns as opposed to transsexualism per se.

Sometimes we have threads involving minors tangentially, either as non-lolcow threads (so Jazz' thread was originally in multimedia about his TV show) or the thread is more focused on the parent enabling the abuse and the minor themselves is an unfortunate victim.

Though I think I see the 14yo you're talking about, and goddamn the comments are making me salty. Just a handful of encouraging comments, but still, these groomers need to neck themselves asap.

The whole brain-sex thing also leads to absurd pretzel logic when combined with their other talking points. Brains are innately female, but vaginas aren't. It just makes no fucking sense.

I've been reading up on the subject of brain sex, so thanks for the links in the last few pages, good stuff. Here's another interesting one:

Structural connections in the brain in relation to gender identity and sexual orientation​

The present study searches to find neural correlates for the respective conditions, using fractional anisotropy (FA) as a measure of white matter connections that has consistently shown sex differences. We compared FA in 40 transgender men (female birth-assigned sex) and 27 transgender women (male birth-assigned sex), with both homosexual (29 male, 30 female) and heterosexual (40 male, 40 female) cisgender controls. Previously reported sex differences in FA were reproduced in cis-heterosexual groups, but were not found among the cis-homosexual groups. After controlling for sexual orientation, the transgender groups showed sex-typical FA-values. The only exception was the right inferior fronto-occipital tract, connecting parietal and frontal brain areas that mediate own body perception. Our findings suggest that the neuroanatomical signature of transgenderism is related to brain areas processing the perception of self and body ownership, whereas homosexuality seems to be associated with less cerebral sexual differentiation.

So this study confirms Blanchard's typology as well - "transbian" brains are not in any way "female-shifted", they are "sex-typical", ie, just like a straight male's. The only difference, neurologically speaking, that separates a transbian from a straight man is found in the right inferior fronto-occipital tract and the inferior longitudinal fasciculus. So what do these areas do?
The fronto-occipital tract connects the brain areas that mediate self-perception. As for the inferior longitudinal fasciculus, well, here's what wikipedia has to say:

Summarising studies from healthy individuals, intraoperative and lesional findings, this white matter bundle supports functions linked to the ventral visual stream such as object recognition and face perception, Likewise, disorders linked to this white matter tract are disorders with perturbed visual perception such as associative visual agnosia, prosopagnosia, visual amnesia, visual hypo-emotionality; but also some forms of autism spectrum disorders, schizophrenia and alexia

So. There's a reason so many of them are faceblind autists. They don't have "female" brains, they have body dysmorphic brains that literally can't properly process visual data.
