More than a million Canadians engaged in overnight holiday-season travel, data show

Roughly 1.2 million people in Canada, many of them from affluent neighbourhoods, spent at least one night away from home over the holidays even as governments were urging people not to congregate, according to an analysis of location data.

“There is a trend we see with higher-socioeconomic-status families, this idea of personal control,” he added. “These people are quite successful in their careers and in life, and so they think, ‘I have control over my own destiny, and the decisions I make are the right ones.’ ”

“That’s a bit of a dangerous thing during a pandemic.”

Ironic in a sad sort of way.

I hate this fucker more everyday.

And there's one more reason to hate him from what I read on that article.
Meghan McCain lashed out Friday at President Joe Biden, Dr. Anthony Fauci and Amazon, saying that everyone was sending mixed messages with regard to COVID-19.

McCain began a segment of ABC’s “The View” by saying that she wished authorities like Fauci could have treated Americans like adults from the beginning instead of telling people that masks “didn’t work” in an effort to preserve them for first responders while they were in short supply. “Look, I think the great horror of living in America right now is the absolute, complete and total breakdown of trust in our institutions,” McCain said, noting that she had been pregnant at the start of the pandemic and had given away her masks because Fauci had said that they would not help.
“Just say to me, ‘First responders need them more than average American. Please donate them for the good of your heart.’ I would have done the same thing, but I was lied to,” she continued.
McCain went on to say that she had been disappointed to see Biden and his family without masks just hours after he had signed an executive order mandating that masks be worn on federal property.

“So again, I think the ‘Rules for thee, but not for me’ that have been going on for a long time in the Trump Administration and now you’re seeing with President Biden, I was really disappointed he wasn’t wearing a mask,” McCain said.

Indeed and I wonder if it's more than a coincidence?

I'm starting to really hate my country, and have begun wishing the day of the rake will come sooner, rather than later. Yeah, Justin, I spent the holidays with my family in my hometown, what are you going to do about it? And that “There is a trend we see with higher-socioeconomic-status families, this idea of personal control"? Yeah, it's called personal choice, and a having a basic level of freedom, you tyrannical fuck. All citizens, regardless of a pandemic, should have the right to peacefully gather, and that right should never be infringed upon

Up until the coof, I was optimistic the next generation would be Generation Alpha. Now that their childhoods have been neutered, their social lives have been eliminated, and their early developments have been impaired, they'll all be the Autism Generation. If you think cases of autism have increased among Zoomers, holy shit will it explode in the next 10 years when an entire generation of youth will essentially be worse than Chris-Chan in terms of lack of social skills.

I didn't have a great childhood (you know, growing up before the internet), and my school years sucked balls, but I wouldn't trade it in a minute for what these kids are being subjected to. Even my worst school days would have been better than any Zoom class. Even my worst birthday parties were better than these kids being forcibly isolated from events, holidays, and sleepovers. God, I remember when I was about 10 years old or so and I spent the night at a friend's house, and me and him got into a fight about sleeping with the lights on, since he was a big crybaby who needed a night light. He started crying and his parents made me go home. After that we got into a fight on the playground and stopped talking. Man, looking back at that now, it seems like one of those cherished moments I took for granted. An entire generation of kids are missing out on all of those zany antics as part of growing up, and instead have iPads with facetime to suffice.

And I get so heartbroken seeing small children under age 7 wearing coof masks: I could never imagine what their lives have been like for the past year.

‘Packed us together like sardines’: Guard deployed to Capitol struggles to contain Covid

Hundreds of Guard members who poured into Washington after the Jan. 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol have tested positive for Covid-19 or are quarantining in nearby hotels.

I swear I mentioned awhile back on this thread or somewhere else about how this was dumb and could lead to this result...God I hate the left. Damn them and their chicanery.

Michigan's director of Health and Human Services abruptly resigned today and was replaced. No idea if the incoming person will be more practical that her predecessor or simply rubber stamp anything Whitmer demands of her. I fear she'll be more of the latter.

The incoming DHHS Secretary is named Elizabeth Hertel. She has had a career in various administrative roles. Nothing too interesting leaps out about her.

Her husband, Curtis Hertel Jr., is a state senator (D) who has asked to be removed from his position as "minority vice chair of the Michigan Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Community Health and Human Services," to avoid conflicts of interest. Mr. Hertel represents the 23rd Senate district, which, coincidentally, was Whitmer's old seat before she was governor. His father, Curtis Hertel Sr. was also a Michigan politician.

Anyone born in the 2010s are going to be one fucked up generation. In their teenage years they'll be Generation School Shooter and then as adults they'll probably be Generation Terrorist where all the white kids are either Antifa or McVeigh types and all the black kids are Black Panthers.

How the fuck would a vaccine, even a faulty one, create a more deadly variant?
If you vaccinate slowly enough you just end up putting evolutionary pressure on weak strains of the virus so only the strong survive, the vaccine kills off the spread of the weaker strains so only the stronger strains continue to propogate among the unvaccinated until it mutates so much it needs a new vaccine, it'd actually be worse than just not vaccinating people. When you're talking about vaccine wait times on the order of a year (as is currently the case) this scenario is entirely possible.

Luckily gen alpha is still really young (it started in 2016) and they aren't even in school yet so not much of their life has changed if they don't go to day care. The end of the zoomer gen is fucked 6 ways till sunday though. I think kids who have siblings will come out better rounded than kids who are raised in single-child homes but that's been a trend for a while. And it's a very noticeable trend.

Whoever made it a guideline that children 2 and up need to wear masks needs to be strung up and quartered in minecraft. Also, they've clearly never met a 2 year old if they think that a toddler is going to keep something on their face when they barely want to wear clothes in general.

It would be too good to be true if Biden and/or Pelosi caught Corona-chan despite wearing masks.
