Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

I really do like Mela Lee. I don't share her politics (she is more left-leaning from what I've seen) but she is a genuinely nice person. She's done an excellent job as Rin Tohsaka.

I'm glad Chuck Huber has still supported Vic and Todd's career is still going strong as well.

I'm just hoping Viz will at least be willing to let Vic voice Ikkaku again once the final season of Bleach is released. Although I have my doubts given that Stephanie Sheh supports KV and I'd assume that might have some influence on whether to cast Vic again.

If Vic can win back on the appeals (pressing X to doubt, sadly) then he might have a shot if JYB backs him enough.

Stephanie Sheh supports KV but Johnny Yong Bosch is very ISWV and I suspect Michelle Ruff is staying the fuck out of this shit show beyond the absolute barest minimum.

This is why he needs to seriously consider full streaming on Twitch. More streams, more stuff to do than just talking. Sing, play minecraft, anything! The world is your oyster on Twitch if you just take it.

But her being left-leaning makes it even more sweet. Her still being friends with Vic shows she doesn't care about one's political views to be friends with them.

Your a Biden Surpporter!!. Wow I had no idea. I still like you as a user here. I wouldn't have tooken you for one that's all.

It's just most Biden supporters on here are shitposters. So thats way I'm surprised honestly
To be honest I don't lean left or right. I hate politics. I don't believe the government knows what they're doing either. Trump made my head hurt. Put bleach in our blood was the final straw. Biden doesn't make my head hurt but he walks like my grandpa so it's not like we have any good choices.

Oh ok. Well I think you misunderstood the whole bleach thing. But this isn't a political thread so we don't have to get into that. I will respect your opinions.

This whole Vic situation is one the reason i hate western translations of Jap stuff they get shit wrong or alter it to the point it is off. Then again if the creators really care they will demand a accurate translation and examine it by translating it back to Japanese like Hideo Kojima. Then again Japanese is one of the hardest languages to translate and shit gets lost in translation a lot and we get close aproximations. This video sums it up best Weeb shit. This whole vic scenario destroyed an already controversial Funimation in the eyes of the fans but you know this is your average anime fan who likes the native dub.

Funimation also helps fund/sponsor many many conventions so even if their dubs are garbage, people will most likely buy their shit because at least they'll be able to get a series on dvd and the booth is right there in the dealers room. Low effort consumerism at its finest

I would like to see him do some watch parties. There has to be some anime on Prime that he was in.

I hope for the folks that spent their time and money attending a con, they didn't have to sit through a panel with FaggotHei and FattyMatty Child Pimp. Fucking horrifying.
I did at Anime Matsuri (Nick, Ty, That Umbrella Guy, and Hero Hei). I figure I'm excused, since I was somewhat reporting from the ground, though.

To my knowledge Vic has never done a panel with any of these guys. He's, for the most part, just had solo panels.

Edit: also, their panel at AM wasn't as cringe as you'd expect. That's my final review.

It just goes to show people can have different opinions and still get along. Isn't that what Vic keeps saying? Oh yeah.

But he's bad so must destroy.
Of course. Anybody with a rational brain can see the main issue isn't that Vic was a Republican or that Monica was a Democrat but that people whom Vic thought were friends stabbed in the back for no reason, other than jealousy and pettiness, all while feigning friendship to his face. But since no one from KV has a brain cell, they'll mindlessly view Vic as some kind of deviant, even in the face of opposing evidence.

Japan has been debating changes to their copyright laws for years now (which do need to be updated just like the US laws) and Kotaku is a heaping pile of burning garbage since its inception. Time will tell with how Japan handles this kind of thing.

Ultimately I think it would be funny if "professional" cosplayers have to pay for a license in order to dress as that character but I could see it getting really, really messy in the beginning.

What do I know, I'm a filthy casual when it comes to cosplay and the con scene and most of my costumes are altered pieces of clothing I picked up at a thrift store.

I like that idea too. Let these dirty, worthless [lemoine]CAAAAAAHN SLUTS[/lemoine] pay for their whoring around.
