What horror movies are you guys watching? Incompetent cops are a huge horror movie trope and are rarely the heroes because they don't listen to the protagonists trying to warn them about the monster that's trying to kill them.

That being said, it is unfortunately common in real life as well. Up until about the turn of the century, you couldn't report an adult as a missing person for at least 30 days even if they were missing under suspicious circumstances. (I understand why, but there are a lot of people whose killer might have been caught if they were out looking sooner.)
Not to power level but I can speak first hand of knowing a family who had a family member go missing, it was never solved because the local police department "didn't have the budget". It's a shitty reality.

That being said. Gyro doesn't have the self awareness to not root for real life rapists and murderers over the people trying to catch them and why their ACAB is so disingenuous. We know you wanna fuck smelly Ramirez Staph, you can't hide what's inside.

I learned cops suck (mostly) secondhand, but like....not secondhand from the internet telling me, but secondhand from talking to other people? empathizing with their experience and not wanting them to continue to suffer??? even if I somehow didn't have anybody in my life to tell me about their negative experiences with the cops, I'd have had the same reaction - empathy = the core of my belief - had I encountered people telling those stories online etc. (as ofc I have). and my point here isn't that I am some kind of important empathy haver - I am literally on kiwi farms. my point is that most people form their beliefs out of SOME kind, as WP said, of empathy or desire for the world to work a certain way.
