Chantal revealed something very interesting at the beginning of the live when she was angrily reading the "10 Principles of Intuitive Eating" off her phone.
- Reject the Diet Mentality
- Honor Your Hunger
- Make Peace With Your Food
- Challenge the Food Police
- Discover the Satisfaction Factor
- Feel your Fullness
- Cope your Emotions with Kindness
- Respect Your Body
- Movement–Feel the Difference
- Honor Your Health–Gentle Nutrition
It comes off of this website
here and you can go read all of the everything they are advocating in it's full context (or listen to Chantal say them if this live is archived), but the most absurd things are these quotes.
- "If you allow even one small hope to linger that a new and better diet or food plan might be lurking around the corner, it will prevent you from being free to rediscover Intuitive Eating."
- "Give yourself unconditional permission to eat. If you tell yourself that you can’t or shouldn’t have a particular food, it can lead to intense feelings of deprivation that build into uncontrollable cravings and, often, bingeing."
- Rule 8 about Respect your Body actually means "Accept your genetic blueprint. Just as a person with a shoe size of eight would not expect to realistically squeeze into a size six, it is equally futile (and uncomfortable) to have a similar expectation about body size."
There is some good (albeit common sense) advice sprinkled in, but those were the worst quotes imo.
However more importantly, this website also seems to have some strange program where people can become intuitive eating counselors (if you need a laugh, go look at the criteria for who is eligable. Yoga teachers, acupuncturists, dentists, midwives and naturopaths (*
cough* fake doctors). No matter how you feel about them or how nice and well-intentioned they are, there is no reason why they should be giving food or weight loss advice).
So, considering how outspoken Chantal has been about Intuitive Eating, that she choose this specific website to read off of, that this website offers also offers certification to become a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, and that Chantal has been speaking recently about her new counselor, I think we have some clues on who Chantal's counselor is.
The list of people with this specific online degree in her area is relatively small, so if my assumptions are correct, her therapist is narrowed down to these six people.
