Two 8-month-old pit bulls that were loose in Nanaimo attacked several children, severely injuring at least one. Other people that came to aid the children were also injured.

The children were playing in a yard at the house of one of their friends. The dogs were from somewhere else in the neighborhood and had been cited for being at large previously.

One of the owners of the dogs came and got the dogs but did not stick around. The news interviewed the other owner, a Dangerhair that looked to be in her late 40s or early 50s. While she was devastated at what her dogs had done, she said to the reporter, "People are saying, look at this from the prospective of a parent, well, these dogs are my kids, too," and then she broke down crying.

It was later reported both dogs were euthanized, as there have been other incidents prior to this one, and due to the severity of the injuries the one particular child sustained.

To the dangerhair dog owner I would have to say, "If these dogs were your KIDS, you did a lousy job of raising them. Thank heavens you didn't spawn any of your own."

>she's great with respectful children
>there are some dogs she likes
>other dogs she simply doesn't like at all
>she will need to be an only dog
>she is a NO for cats

100% agree.

Why is the face of that dog so unnerving? The eyes look fake and dead, the skin around the eyes look like a person who has had botox or a face lift. Oh, and the dog is so lovable it has a noose around its neck for a leash.

That pit is a good example of the weird Uncanny Valley look many of them have. Simultaneously monstrous, cold and dead, beady shark-like eyes, but also something that appears almost human about them.

I don't really know how to describe it other than that, but I hate it.

I think what is creepy about that dog in particular besides the joker smile is that a lot of the whites of its eyes are showing, giving the eyes a more human-like look. Compare it to:

Nice warm eyes.
Incidentally the whites of a dog's eyes showing is called "whale eye" and a sign the dog is under stress. Pit bull owners think this is funny and cute.

True. I find the whale eye particularly creepy in pits (and fighter/molosser breeds generally), while in many other dogs it just looks cute and triggers your protective instincts

Here's another uncanny valley pit. This one was brought into a restaurant where it attacked a 3 year old who will need plastic surgery. The insane owner interchangeably claims it's a service animal and an emotional support animal, which she registered online, and also that it's the kids fault. Luckily a judge has ordered it to be put down. The whole story is a ride, recommended reading.

A Montgomery County judge ruled on Tuesday afternoon to euthanize a dog that earlier this month attacked a 3-year-old girl inside a Spring restaurant.
Following three days of testimony in court, Justice of the Peace Precinct 3 Judge Matt Beasley ruled that Kingston, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier owned by 46-year-old Jennifer Romano, should be put down. The judge rejected an argument from Romano's defense attorney that the dog could be re-trained, saying he did not believe it was a viable option and citing Romano's "lack of care" for the child when she was attacked.
"I believe that shows lack of responsibility as to what went on," Beasley said. "I do belive that this would happen again...I don't trust you're a good handler for that dog....it's by your own hand and your actions that led us here today."
Kingston lunged and bit Ronin Waldroup on the face, shaking her until the owner yanked back on the leash, when the girl entered the Loose Caboose restaurant on Jan. 9, said the girl’s mother Cleveratta Gordon-Waldroup. She rushed her daughter to the bathroom to wash the wounds before an ambulance arrived. Witnesses said the attack was unprovoked and that Romano ran to her car and drove away, telling the girl’s father: “It’s your daughter’s fault.”

The prosecution argued Tuesday morning in closing statements that Kingston should be put down to prevent future attacks, while the defense unsuccessfully implored the judge to give the dog a second chance. Romano has said that the dog is an emotional support animal and it was wearing a vest indicating it was a service dog on the day of the attack.
The case hinged on a statute in the Texas Health and Safety Code that says a court “may” order a dog killed if it finds that the dog caused serious bodily injury to a person, as defined by the same code. Beasley ruled that the dog did cause "serious bodily injury."
Romano’s attorney, John Kovach, said the statute gives the judge latitude to use his discretion. He asked the court to allow Kingston to be rehabilitated, and that Romano has made arrangements with Houston-area dog trainer Laura London for an evaluation. The dog should be given a second chance in part because Romano relies on him for emotional support, Kovach said.
“We’re not trying to diminish this incident, but what’s wrong with signing an order for Kingston to have an opportunity to prove himself?” Kovach said.
Prosecutors argued that Kingston should be euthanized and showed photos of the victim’s bloody, bruised and swollen face. The child required 14 stitches and will need plastic surgery, Gordon-Waldroup testified in court. Her daughter wakes up at night crying and yelling, “Bad dog,” she said.
“We want to make sure this doesn’t happen again to anyone else in Montgomery County,” said Ronald Chin of the county attorney’s office.
On Tuesday morning, Kovach called on several of Romano’s friends to testify. Each said they had been around Kingston at least dozens of times before the Jan. 9 attack, in public and private, and testified that he was good with children, never growled or bit anyone and helped Romano with her mental health. The recent Spring attack was “uncharacteristic,” the friends agreed.
Romano’s doctor wrote a letter stating that service animals help Romano with her general anxiety disorder. Friends and relatives testified that Romano also suffers from bipolar disorder, depression and hypertension, and takes multiple medications.
Dogs that only provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals, according to the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Service animal handlers are not required to have certification, registration or professional training. However, Romano registered Kingston as a service dog through the United States Service Dog Registry, a website offering free voluntary service dog registration. But according to the website, registration “does not make a dog a Service Dog — it allows someone to hold themselves to a community defined standard.” Kingston’s registration on the website has since been revoked.
Conflicting testimony surrounded Kingston’s previous bite history. Montgomery County officials said the dog has no recorded bite history, but that they had heard rumor of other incidents. Lily Ferguson, 19, testified that Kingston bit her face in June while she was living with Romano. She did not file a report, but later sued Romano.
Fred Evans, another of Romano’s friends, disputed Ferguson’s testimony in court on Tuesday, saying Ferguson told him she was bitten by a dog outside Romano’s apartment that she could not identify. He agreed that her story was “inconsistent” and Kovach accused Ferguson of “lies.”
In recent years, Romano has been named in multiple lawsuits surrounding a different pit bull, Gus, she claimed to be rehabilitating through her now-defunct business, Maggie’s House Rescue.
In a similar hearing in 2013, a Montgomery County judge ruled that Gus caused serious bodily injury and ordered the dog euthanized. However, Romano appealed the decision and reached an agreement to send the dog to a California trainer. At the same time, she was ordered to pay $1.3 million in damages in a personal injury lawsuit filed in Harris County by the victim.
Romano removed Gus from the California facility before he completed rehabilitation, and six days later, the pit bull attacked another woman. The dog has since been put down.

Edit: apparently this woman has a history and this is the third time one of her shitbulls bit someone. https://www.reddit.com/r/BanPitBull...ull_rescuer_jennifer_romano_of_maggies_house/

I truly wish they would.outlaw these awful dogs. They serve absolutely no purpose on earth and they clog up the dog shelters because they are overbred and dumped. As a first responder, we had to deal with an incident where the owner let their shitty dogs out of the cage they were locked in and the dogs immediately went to a neighbors yard and killed the neighbors young son. Those dogs were put down but the shitty owner just got some more of them and would post pics of them with their new baby which was especially shitty because they knew it upset the mom of the deceased child because the dogs killed her only child and she could not have more kids and they knew she was traumatized by the sight and sound of the dogs. Shitty dogs and shitty owners.

I gotta vent so skip this if that annoys you.
We had to dog sit one for one of hubs kids and it was a miserable dog who did not listen and I was constantly having to push it off of me ( I always sit by the window and it was trying to get to the window). It made me uncomfortable to have to push the dog off of me because I didn't know if it would snap. Plus the dog weighed about 50 lbs was very strong and stubborn and I am not a big person. Also we had to stay home with it 24/7 because the dog got anxiety if left alone and would destroy stuff or possible kill our dog. It also snapped at our pup who is a very small dog ( less than 10 lbs).

We were dog-sitting because the owner was on an out of town trip and I was pretty pissed that when they got back to town that they didn't bother to come get their dog for a few days after that. Then they brought it here for a family gathering and it got into a fight with another dog who was visiting us with friends and so the pitt owner thought that it was best to lock the dog in the house with me. Oh hell no. Fuck that! And of course they blamed the other dog for the fight.

And of course the owners say the Pitt is just a big sweet baby who would never hurt anyone despite the fact that it attacked and killed a cat.

I own an American Bulldog/Pit mix, the only things keeping her from being a baby mauler are her retardation and breathing issues I'm convinced. She's genuinely docile and stupid, and though a freak of nature I do love the girl. She also does give warning signals and such when mad, so I think that's a good sign. Far more bully than pit I suppose.

As someone who's been around pits since I was young I'm torn. I've met very friendly ones who never did anything wrong their whole lives, but I also know no less than four people who were traumatized by pits as kids. I think it'd be for the best if the breed was outlawed from further breeding and all the existing non-violent ones were grandfathered in and sterilized. Put them out to sunset, peacefully, and never breed dogs for fighting again because that's retarded.

Also, sperg time, I think people largely protect or ignore pits with the same logic leftists defend their pet minorities-if you believe in feels over reals, then facts don't matter. All dindus, human or dog are good bois no matter what statistics say.

I'm sorry, but if some shitbull owner killed my only child, I would not only sue them for everything they either make or own from that moment on, I'd make sure copious amounts of antifreeze were "accidentally" left around their property.

Also, how the hell did you let the pitbull over to your house the second time? I'd have told my husband's kid to kennel that dog or leave it with someone else, or else I'd get another husband with better kids....

They didn't tell us they were bringing the dog. They just showed up with it. They didn't want to leave the dog alone at home alone since it gets "stressed" and tears up shit. I was quite pissed about it especially after it then attacked the other dog and then they put the dog in my house with me, thinking I should babysit it. Naturally, it behaved like an asshole and kept trying to get to the window and was barking and yelping because it wanted out where the owners were.

We also had a stray mama cat in the house with newborn kittens at the time and the dumbass dog made a beeline for the box where mamacat was and stuck her nose in the box where mama at was with her babies. Well, mamacat scratched the fuck out of the dogs face and the dog left bleeding after the asswhupping mamacat delivered. Mamacat got steak and lots of treats for doing that.

In any decent society, the entire neighborhood would have gathered together, shot the shit bulls in front of the shitty owners, burned down their house and made them watch, then killed them.

I wonder what's stressing that pit.

"Oh my god this baby looks delicious. But my heckin' coot pupper momerino has me on camera, so if I eat it right now, no one will blame the baby for its own death. Oh man is this stressful."

Out of all the revolting things the pitophiles have done in this thread, this has made me the angriest. Pitbull obsessives need a eugenics program, just like Pitbulls. We need to get rid of these recessive genes.

I am currently looking for a dog, a puppy in particular because I have a cat and kids. I am a highly experienced dog owner though. I like to adopt when I can but it is hard to find a larger breed puppy. I have been trolling pet finder and rescue sites.

More than half the dogs available near me are some sort of pittie mix. They dress them up in tutus, even mislead about what breed the dog is by calling it "mixed breed" or "terrier mix". Sorry, that head shape has the unmistakable look of a pit bull and I am not fooled by the cute bandana.

Sometimes when I tell shelters I want a large breed with NO pit in it they take offense and ghost me.

If I had to get a big dog I'd get a rottweiler. They're intimidating but also soft and cuddly.

They are good dogs, but they are a working breed with a lot of energy. Make sure you have plenty of room and give them a lot of exercise and stuff to do! Otherwise if you don't work off their mental and physical energy they will be very challenging.
