Billions of dollars are gonna leave hedge funds and be distributed to millions of small time investors (the people). Government may bail the hedge funds out, while that is happening the SEC is gonna try and patch this issue so it won't happen again.

Unless they outright create a protected noble class where only they are allowed to manipulate shorts, it won't stop them, and if they do that, lawsuits will fly

Some words on wsb and /biz/ are indicating this is the next target. If gold and silver shorts are called and markets are forced to cover, the market will go tits up. GME can always issue new shares, but you can't easily dig up more gold or silver/

It wouldn't be the shorts that would fuck them over, it would be requesting the gold that the paper is for. Major banks have been selling precious metal contracts for metals they don't have. We know this because they have been caught and fined for it (which they paid by selling precious metal contracts for metals they didn't have). This combined with the general financialization of gold is why the price isn't higher, despite the money printer burrring like it's never before. Gold being undervalued gives the false pretense that financial markets aren't just being inflated. If they really wanted to fuck over wallstreet and the financial, buy gold contracts then instantly demand the gold be physically sent to you in mass.
