My prediction: Biden and the Dems step in to stop trading and bail out the hedgebros, and it's cast as "evil white supremacist sexist gamergater MAGATS tried to do a mean thing to Grandma's retirement."

Longterm: they try to regulate Robinhood and personal investing out of existence so only "safe, trained, licensed professionals" can trade stocks. Individuals can own stocks, but their buy/sell decisions will be controlled by brokers who really just move individual money at the behest of brokerage firms and funds.

I remember reading that the story is whitewashed as hell, since Nobel only gave a shit after his brother died and the newspapers confused is brother for him and savaged his still warm corpse. So he made the Peace Prize as a way to manipulate his legacy into being something positive.

That is going to be the play. They will try and ban individual investors from using their own money in the stock market absent some complicated licensing procedure.

Do not let them do this. I cannot stress enough how important it is we do not let the government cut us off entirely from the financial industry. They cut you off from the money, then they own you. And they will own your children. This is not hyperbole.

I mean, the last people that tried to make any sort of push-back by force turned Washington into a literal ongoing police-state and those that attended that fiasco are being hunted down like Inglorious Basterds. And someone even got shot in the neck...
I'm not looking to get shot in the neck anytime soon, and I can't imagine anyone else is either...Sssso I think this is just going to happen.
I mean why not? We're already living in a dystopian cyberpunk world minus the badass technology, why not pile it on more?

Because the Cyberpunk futurists and the dystopian fiction futurists like Orwell assumed that the passive inevitability was the fate of man. I disagree and stand with Herbert instead.

Seriously, Herbert's "Dune" was ahead of its time. He perfectly predicted the rise of silicon valley and our new technocratic overlords. I seriously hope his prediction of the inevitable and very violent backlash to the same is true as well.
